By the way i read it it sure seemed so. First you agree, then you bring up stupidity. What exactly are you going on about?

*sigh*

With this statement, I'm saying that while I think what you're doing is stupid, you have every right under the law to do it, and I'm willing to defend that right with my life (Hence the whole Marine Corps thing). In the military, we don't get to pick and choose who we want to defend and protect. The fact that I believe your actions are stupid is irrelevant. If it's legal, you have every right to be doing it.

I'd rather not see a disgusting STD infected whore on the side of the road preaching sex and drugs to my children... no thanks.

As a prostitute myself, I would greatly appreciate the legalization of this business...

I can't even imagine walking down the street, and seeing people have sex in a car down an alley.

I think it should stay Illegal, I doubt it would ever become legal the Government has enough to deal with last thing they need is a job about dicks & vaginas

Absolutely. Preventing two consenting adults from exchange of goods is wrong to me. By making it legal, it's safer for all involved. It's not to say people won't try to work around the system but making it legal creates a framework for things like STD testing and and better workplace standards for sex workers. Also makes it safer for any willing buyers of the service.

Now I see what you mean. The first part of your reply threw me off, not to mention that you liked my post which made me believe that you agreed with my statement, then proceeding to call it a stupid thought which made you seem extremely hypocritical. But back on topic, I don't really give a damn what people want to do with themselves. I could of put out a long statement saying what it think should be regulated within it, but I'd rather not write out some stupid long reply to a topic when I can sum it up in a few words. I do however agree with what you posted about it being public. It should be set to a private matter and not performed out in public. I'll leave it at that since I've seen where conversations like this turn into. I think I'll just take Illusionary's word and stay out of shit like this from now on.

I don't think taking someone elses word is very wise, but I understand. It was a simple misunderstanding, it happens. :)

For me, I think it should remain illegal because I see it as immoral. Shouldn't we be more supportive of more productive things in society?

How is it immoral? You're basically saying sex is immoral. As long as it's regulated and everyone is being safe then I see no problem with it.

Oh and you want to talk about being productive? Lets start by fixing climate change and separating the church and state. etc

I challenged someone previously on this same topic, but they didn't respond. I'm sure that you'll come up with a response.

Do you mind explaining how legalizing prostitution will help these things? What good will come out of it, and its impact on society?

Neither do I, but I've seen it plenty of times on this forum which concludes me to take his word. At least now I have knowledge on it first hand.

Mandated STD testing would certainly decrease the instance of STD transmission among sex workers. I don't know what the protocol would be, but a sex worker that failed a test would be subject to some kind of action preventing them from working. Decreasing STD transmission is certainly a good thing. Prostitution is going to happen regardless, it might as well be done in a much safer environment. It also would be much more likely to decrease the instance of sex workers falling victim to drug abuse, given the better working standards.

As for the "impact on society," I don't see an issue here. I don't make any moral judgments in regards to prostitution, and it's already commonplace. I'd rather people do it in a much safer environment than the status quo.

You're talking right now like legalization of prostitution doesn't exist at all while it does in some European countries, where it is a regulated profession with its representatives and codes of conduct.

Like all potentially harmful to human health areas like food production, medical services, it should be regulated, employees should be examined by medics, and so on.

To all those who consider this "immoral": well, how does that help combating prostitution? If its legal they'll be scared of violating laws of their profession. If its illegal there's nothing to loose. And finally, morale is a weird thing. Just because I can't get a girlfriend you wanna prosecute me? :D

Specially to CK: I'm not talking about having sex in cars, public places, streets, stairwells, and all  that. But the prostitution in whole should be legal and regulated.

Oh, I'm sorry. Apparently putting a price tag on yourself and having sex with someone you don't even know is totally moral.

Morality is subjective. You may have a problem with that. I however, do not.

Define morality from the legal point of view please. Is foreclosing people's houses and leaving them on the street moral?

in the 70s homosexuality was considered immoral over a matter of time we change our views

This is a completely different topic, for a completely different discussion. This also isn't entirely true, plenty of people still oppose homosexuality.

Not saying that you're incorrect, but do you mind elaborating on how this is true?

If you stop making payments on a house, then it will be taken away. I fail to see the relation to prostitution.

yeah, morality is such a flexible thing. When a person is fired because his organization was shut down due to management failures, he stops making payments and find himself on the street, that's completely moral for you. On the other hand, if someone willingly sells him or herself, that's immoral.

At least, when it's legal and organized and you hear loud moaning from the apartment next door, and it offends you, you can call the police, and the legally organized brothel will face troubles. An illegal brothel will be shut down, but next night it's gonna be open again, and some tall bald guys will show up at your door to speak about privacy.
