North Korea in numbers

Featured Replies

So as the title suggests, I wanted to talk about North Korea in general and why it is such a corrupt country, with all the horrible things that are going in that country right now, I don't get why we as planet just turn a blind eye to this disgusting and immoral government. Since the last topic was closed, I created a sightly different one. Now to start off here's a video:

  • Excuse me?

  • Not the wrost country ever? Well it's pretty darn close to it, also I'm not particularly talking about the citizens, but of their government.

Probably because invading a country and killing its citizens isn't a good solution. North Korea ain't the worst country in the world.

Yeah, well, crappy government, crappy system, but they fought for it during Korean war, and many US soldiers had already died there trying to prevent the red dictatorship. NK will eventually dissolve itself like USSR, no need in assistance.

For some reason I highly believe it was more like forced enrollment during the Korean war, alongside brainwashed soldiers and all that. But I doubt NK will dissolve itself anytime soon, first because on the contrary of the USSR it's not different countries put together, and second because China can't afford it, even if they recently had disagreements.

i love how YOU ONLY SAY USA.

USSR came to its end because of an economical failure, everything else is just a consequence. Any attempts to secede earlier were ruthlessly suppressed.

Yeah, so if you want to stop NK, stop China first, and considering its economy is inferior only to the USA it will be hard.

Because it's not our problem, is why we don't do anything about it. The US, Canada, Germany, France, UK, etc is not anyone's big brother. That kind of thinking is why a lot of countries hate the US. And why I actually believe a lot of ME countries have a legitimate gripe, when they say the US tries to cram "Blue Democracy" down the world's throat. If they want to change start a revolution. Don't tell me it can't happen, because when a people are oppressed enough and truly want change they will start it.

I don't get your point but just to make myself clear: US suffered heavy casualties then and failed to break the Northerns and a US resident wants to stop NK now which will probably do no good too.

you must be ignorant enough to think that the US was the only country that fought in the Korean war.

One more time, my dear sir, I was addressing a US resident who proposes to do something with the NK. I said the the US already tried and suffered casualties while failing to eliminate reds, so doing this one more time will do no good. Don't see what does it have to do with other countries.

Speaking of North Korea, if you had New York City as one country, and the NYPD as it's army, it would be behind Greece and AHEAD of North Korea.

NYC "would be behind Greece and AHEAD of North Korea", In what context? Financial, Military Strength, IQ, Education, Birth Rate Defects? I have no idea what you're talking about

If you're talking about numerical military members because you mentioned an NYPD Army, that's definitely wrong because North Korea would kick NYC's butt. North Korea has the largest standing military on our planet by an absolute longshot.

There is no point in addressing NK simply because its not our problem and whenever the US touches another country it turns into Lybia or Iraq.

I really don't think China is North Koreas ally, pretty sure once North Korea collapses on its economy, they'll dump them like yesterday's trash. As for the revolution, I can totally see that happen, Kim walks outside one day and a former citizen snipes him, there revolution started, this is all hypothetical by the way.

Also to Takao: what is wrong with you?

Actually a quick Google search shows that China as the largest standing military. North Korea isn't even remotely close to having the largest military in the world. Even if North Korea did have the largest standing military, they don't have the largest population. The United States for example, could easily overpower North Korea. The United States has almost 10x the population of North Korea. If the United States wanted to, it could easily outnumber North Korea 10 to 1.

Well, to be fairly exact, they have the highest percentage of active population serving in the army, as seen here:

North%20Korea%20Most%20Militarized.JPG

And considering their outdated equipment, vehicles, tactics and all that, I believe a lot of smaller armies could kick their asses if it came to a one on one (as in, no other country involved than North Korea and the other one).

Actually, I think you might want to read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China%E2%80%93North_Korea_relations

China and North Korea are quite close, even though they had disagreements lately. China is lending a lot of food and money to North Korea, in exchange they keep quiet like a good watchdog. China wants to keep North Korea because it makes a pad area between them and the western world. They refuse to have a common border with any country involved with the US.

Plus, I wonder the number of those serving in the North Korean military were forced to serve, out of their own freewill?

kek i still dont understand this graph.
