Right, scratch what I just said..

On windows vista / 7:

Open the start menu and type:

%appdata%

Press Enter

When the folder opens, click "AppData" in the top search bar

Click on "Local"

In the search box to the top right, search "Rockstar Games"

If you have GTA San Andreas installed, two files will appear, click the top one.

Click "GTA IV"

Click "Settings"

You should see a notepad document labelled "Serial" .. This is your serial key.

Unfortunately, its encrypted, so you'll need to decrypt it in order to see your product key.

We can't help you if you've lost your serial key.

The serial is binding to the installation. Installing an update would not interfere unless you were using a cracked copy.
