Attaching Lights to Doors in Zmod

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am having issues attaching the lights to the moving doors of a vehicle. Instead of moving with the car, the doors go right through the lights. I now realize that almost all of my models have had this issue, and If I can find the old files I can fix them. I am also working on a car that has a Christmas Tree formation of lights on both sides but I need a solution to this issue first.

Thanks,

Ian

Attach the module to the door_L0 and then place the extras in the doors hierarchy, make sure that there are no other lights attached to the extras or they will move when the door opens aswell

I'm not 100% but I don't think you can have the dummies named extra_1_r. I believe the L0s can have that name but not the dummies. So it has to be extra_1, not extra_1_r. So your gonna have to have extra_1 on one side and then extra_4 on another side if you want them to move with the doors. I hope that makes sense

ELS turns anything named extra_1, extra_2, etc on and off repeatedly, basically the same as checking and unchecking extra_# in the hierarchy. It has to be named exactly that, though. Anything within the extra_# dummy will flash.

So, yes, what BlackJesus1 said.

Thanks guys! The reason I did this is for organization. It works like this when it is a sub folder of an extra folder, but I forgot that it doesn't work if it is outside of an extra folder (If that makes sense). I will try this when I get home from school, and then you can go ahead and close the topic. I just need to make sure it works (Which I am sure it will).

If you have extra_1 and Extra_4 on the driver side door and extra_1 and extra_4 on the passenger door it's going to open them all in the direction of the door you open. You need to use diff. extras, i.e 1 and 4 for d_side_f and 2,3 for p_side_f

When I try to save the vehicle, it tells me that I cannot have extras with the same name. There cannot be multiple instances od one name. Sorry for the rather stupid question, I am a bit confused on what I am supposed to do. How would I go about making the lights on one side of the door be extra_4 ad extra _1 but also have extras on the light bar be extra_4 and extra _1? Thanks!
