Find yourself a template, or just export the skin you want to edit from SPARK IV..

And open it in your favorite PaintShop :)

Then when youre done editing, import the file where you exported it from, and try out the model in the SPARK IV model previewer.

so if you edit the textures for m_y_cop.wtd, you have to doubleclick m_y_cop.wdd to see the model with the skin on.

You might have to browse the models on the left side of the previewer to find the _HI model with best graphics. Most models have have several "children" with _lo and _med ( Low and Medium) skin quality.

For example.

The cop has several models (jackets) located in the m_y_cop.wdd file.

Just look at the left side when you doubleclick the file:

Well, to add on to this post, I also recommend using Photoshop, it might costs some $$ but it is worth it! I'm not sure about Autodesk Inventor, since I don't mod myself, but Autodesk Inventor seems to me is just for modeling cars, I'm not so sure about texture and skins. But Photoshop is a 100%! Good luck!

GIMP is also a great option and is free. If you have access to Photoshop it is the best and easiest to use. I've also heard of people using paint.net (there are tutorials for that on youtube). My friend Lonestranger has a great tutorial on GPM in the knowledge base section. Also JDSGraphics makes some of the best textures out there right now and he has several photoshop tutorials on his youtube channel. If you end up using GIMP things may be slightly different, but most of the techniques cross over from photoshop. Best of luck!

Inventor is CAD/CAM. It is not even remotely appropriate for games. I know that a couple months ago, someone was saying "Look at this great graphics card" for an NVidia Quadro, which is a very expensive graphics card designed for industry, and they were told that it is actually bad for games. Stuff like Inventor is what it is for.

Fun fact: did you know that you can design a part in Inventor, send it to a special program, and then have a mill or lathe automatically make the part for you out of metal? (You can also have a 3D printer print it, but that is less robust) It's called CNC, and my robotics team just had a few parts made this way. It's just awesome  (the person who designed them actually made them his profile pick on FB)

I see you already got your answer. I started re-texturing few days ago I absolutely love it. Now, my country finally has decent textures on awesome models.

yah every 1 was a great help

Huh, not bad. I was thinking of recreating some of the textures for my local police department assuming I can find pics. Now, I'm not good with Photoshop, but I at least know my way around it. Would someone mind helping me if I do most of the heavy lifting of getting it fitted? Mostly its just the fonts that might be the tougher part, since I lost a lot of them in a recent format I did..

I do small time graphic editing for a site I manage/run. But meh.. That's life for me.

Oh, but Paint doesn't have that many features! But it's still a good source. To me, paint is just a simple and basic way to make 'em....

paint.net is not the same thing as MS Paint. I haven't tried it myself, though, I use GIMP. I plan on posting my texturing tutorial here soon. Here it is.

I use GIMP for serious edits, and paint.net for minor ones. I often use paint.net for emerglights editing, as it handles transparencies properly.
