New Whelen Lightbar!

Featured Replies

I quite like it. I like the older rotator style bars and making them with LEDs is pretty cool. I just saw this bar on SIRENET's channel. I love the rota-LED combo on it, and I think if anyone was up to the challenge, should make this! lol.

It's not that new...in fact the legacy and the liberty II are newer then it. There just has been much talk about it.

But on the topic of the lightbar it self, I think its very nice, sort of a copy-cat of the MX7000, but still a very nice light bar

That looks pretty sick, although I don't like the look of the rota freedom on a car. But the Delta would look sexy on a patrol car. Is the rota-led combo brighter than only leds or rotators?

I think so, they built in dimer's because at night the can sometimes be 'too bright'

This is exactly like ELS' original rotators.

Oh yeah, you're right, it's now exactly like ELSv6 ELS-H lightbars!! XDXD

I have always been a fan of rotators and I feel they provide the greatest visibility to other vehicles approaching, especially from the sides. However I will say that with all of this LED technology getting better and brighter I think it is actually creating a bigger hazard instead of increasing officer safety. At night time if you are on the side of a road on a traffic stop or traffic crash and you have your lights going it is absolutely blinding to other drivers who are approaching you. These super bright lights might provide greater visibility to your vehicle but it makes it harder for other motorist to see the officer or other hazards around the vehicle. That is why I am actually a big fan of lightbars that allow you to turn on your front facing lights and only turn on a few rear facing lights.

I think the large look of the bar is because of the Audi. Even the guy in the video said that the light bar would look much better on a full size police car; a CVPI, Charger, Caprice, Police Interceptor, or the Interceptor Utility. But I like the look of it.

That's not bad at all, though the new Federal Signal Navigator lightbars execute the concept a bit better IMO.  They have actual rotating pods in them with LEDs as opposed to just a simulated effect.  The best of both worlds, but it would be even better if they dropped those Navigator/Vision-SLR styled rotators into an Aerodynic chassis!

Haha, Aerodynic =P  I'd much rather they put the SLR pods in the JetStream chassis to replace the horrendously-ugly JetStream LED they currently have.

I love the SLR pods from Federal Signal.  The Vision SLR is one of my favorite LED lightbars.  Now, if only Code 3 can come up with their own rotating LED technology and re-release the MX7000 with them, that would be like a dream come true.
