Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars

Featured Replies

I personally prefer to play games that take Place in a country where I can actually read what the signs say, and understand the language being spoken. Either way, the game looks like it has potential. I just hope it doesn't turn into another APB Reloaded.

I don't mind APB reloaded the only problems were: the lights and sirens were really bad and unrealistic and most people chose the criminals.

I think there's a whole lot of things wrong with APB than just that, but to stay on topic, I'm not really looking forward this at all.

I played Sleeping Dogs, it was alright but not something that really interested me on the longer run. I actually prefer the older True Crime series games.

If thats your review of Sleeping Dogs, I bet 100 dollahs you haven't played Just Cause 2.

Anyways, being a hardcore open-world action-adventure gamer, I like to judge a game by its gameplay experience and fun elements rather than the location its taking place in. I've enjoyed nearly every damn videogame of this genre out there be it Vice City, SA, IV, EFLC, Saints Row 2, 3, 4, Sleeping Dogs, Watchdogs, Just Cause, State of Decay, etc. I would, in no way compare the titles with each other because they all have their pros and cons as well as their unique fun elements, but I think Sleeping Dogs was waay better than GTA IV in some ways. I love SD's graphics, the smooth animation and the awesome DLC stuff they churned out. And I would grab just about anything they would throw at us calling a sequel.

I feel like APB Reloaded was a money sucker. In my opinion, the game was destroyed by hackers, 'pay to win' elements, and it's horrible matchmaking system. Though the months I played it, I did enjoy the game.

My own opinion. Like I said, I'd prefer a game taking place in a country that I'm actually somewhat familiar with. I was never a big fan of games that take place in a country where I don't understand the language.

You do realize Sleeping Dogs was released internationally, had an english-speaking cast as well as english subtitles hardcoded into the game with a now 2 million+ (maybe even more) strong english-speaking community, right?

Yes, but the game takes place in a country where English isn't the first language. I'd prefer a game that takes place in a country where English is the first language.

Just curious, why would you want it to take place in a place where english is first language? I mean, if I ask you to choose from the below, which one would you choose:

Ride to hell: Retribution or Far Cry 4?

I found the same thing with Shogun 2. As I didn't have a clue about the culture I found it hard to get into.

I literally beat Sleeping Dogs in 3 days and returned it right after. It's really hard to get into the game if your not interested into the culture or environment. Honestly, I would pay over $100 if they went back to the true crime series in NY or LA.

Like I've already said, I prefer a game that takes place in a country where English is the first language, because I can more easily read the signs. Being able to read what's around me while in-game, helps me to understand the atmosphere of the story, why the game is taking place in this area. Also for instance, AI or NPC actions and responses. If I'm familiar with the country, I can more easily understand why the Police sent three helicopters instead of one. Or why these criminals are fighting inside of a store, rather than in a back alley. Plus, it's just what I prefer.

And as others have said, if I'm not interested in the culture or surroundings the game won't be fun to me.

Of the two games, I'd feel more comfortable playing Ride to hell: Retribution because it takes place in America. I can more easily understand the roads, the signs, why the area looks the way it does, why the characters are where they are, etc. However, I'd choose Far Cry 4 obviously because it's the newer and more developed game.

In my opoioin I think the scariest gang I've encountered in the gta series was the mafia in gta3, I swear I could never drive around their territory without being blowed up, but on topic let's hope this game is better than the original sleeping dogs.
