Ferguson Unrest Resumes After Michael Brown Memorial Burns Down

Featured Replies

Several weeks after the turbulence that followed the August 9 shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., a new round of unrest is being reported. As NBC News and others are noting, the catalyst for the renascent protests appears to be the burning down of a Michael Brown memorial in Ferguson:

Local news affiliate KSDK reported that there was a break-in Tuesday at Beauty Town, a West Florissant cosmetics supply store. There were also reports of gun shots fired near the apartment complex where Brown lived and allegedly outside of Beauty Town. Roughly 200 protesters eventually converged on the scene, according to KDSK.

This is what I say to people all the time, violence is not the answer, this is why I'm considered to be highly optimistic.

It's funny how people work.

A tragic event happens, one which it would be unfair to not pursue the officer and unjust to indite him.

The family calls for peace in mourning their loved one and yet people(often with no care of what is actually occuring) decide to pursue violence...

Anyone is capable of violence, even peaceful protestors. Many so called peaceful protests, have turned violent. Some "peaceful" person must have done it in the hopes of deciding which side wins.
They keep on fueling the riots and sparking more violence.:confused::ohmy::mellow:

It's not the entire community that's rioting. There was a video where it appeared as if the vast majority of the community was actually peacefully protesting by the Police line. In the back, you could see very few people actually running around trashing stuff. The criminals are using this tragedy as an opportunity to commit crime with no repercussions. It's sick, it's cowardly, and it's smart.

the question now is who burnt it down? Why cause more violence

No one burned it down, it simply caught fire.

Occam's razor suggests that all the dead flowers, stuffed animals, and unattended candles that people left at the site might have had something to do with it. Candle flame + flammable materials = FIRE

But, the more absurd suggestion being made by some people in Ferguson is that the police intentionally set fire to the site, hence the protests again.

AND PEOPLE ARE GETTING PISSED AT THIS!?

Yup. They believe the police set fire to the site. If that were true, I'd be mad too. But, I'm a reasonable person, and I understand how ridiculous that accusation is.
