US Army

Featured Replies

Hello LCPDFR Family :) I have wonderful news. So I went in to a US ARMY recruiting station today and they will indeed issue me a waiver to enlist. I was convicted of a felony back in 2012 of malicious wounding, 1st time offense received probation and a lesser charge of unlawful assault. I am so pleased that the U.S. Army is taking the time to give me a second chance. My hopes are that I serve the country, receive honorable discharge, and get an pardon for my felony(in which was an accident a bb gun misfire) and join the police force. I feel it it will happen its my destiny. #onestepatatime :)

I'll be joining in about two years as well. Good luck out there, brother. Thanks for your service! But until you pass basic training, the question still remains.. =)

EDIT: Didn't know the image would be so huge LOL. Not sure how to change that, sorry.

Congrats though, man. But a word of warning, unless you actually have that in writing or it's gone through and you signed the waiver, don't get your hopes up. Recruiters will do that shit, just to keep you on the hook. That's the way it went with my recruiting process. But it should go through no problem.

I believe that should be overlooked in the army, im not sure about the police force most police jobs don't even want you to have a misdemeanor

Sometime I tell myself that too lol, but if I hadn't joined the Army I might not have been able to go to Airborne School which is one of the schools I've always wanted to go to so its not all bad.

Depends on what job you want. They probably won't give you any jobs that involve a security clearance or driving. You could try to be a 92G (Food Service Specialist) or a 92S (Laundry Specialist), they might even let you into Supply (92 something) or 42A (Human Resources Specialist). That is something you would have to talk to a recruiter about.

ODonnell, what Pavelow said is 100% correct. I hope it works out for you but take everything a recruiter says with a grain of salt. My recruiters weren't too bad but they screwed me a couple of times; luckily for me it turned out better than I could have imagined but sometimes that is not the case. I am currently in the Army so if you have any questions let me know. If you have a question about what they are promising you or telling you feel free to ask me, or if you just have questions about the Army in general feel free to ask.

My second choice on my Dream Sheet was to try to get stationed at Fort Benning and go through Airborne School, and then I can be one of those ultra-douchie Security Forces guys that can say "I'm badass!"

I met a guy in Airborne school who was Security Forces, didn't understand how Security Forces got into Airborne. He just told me he was part of a special Security Forces unit that has to be Airborne qualified.

We didn't really get to fill out a dream sheet, we just had a thing we could fill out online that let us pick three CONUS and three OCONUS assignments we would like to have but it was pretty much worthless because nobody ever looked at it. I put Germany as my first OCONUS choice because I really wanted to get stationed either in Germany or Italy and I was lucky enough to get Germany. A few other people in my company also got their first CONUS or OCONUS choice so it was pretty sweet.

Because we're like the MPs; "Multipurpose". Lol. We can go through Ranger school, Airborne school, Army Sniper school, etc. Makes us able to supplement front line forces in wartime.

Yeah my dad is retired from the Air Force and he tried to convince me to join the Air Force as well but I went into the Army instead. All through AIT (and sometimes even now) I am like "how stupid am I for not listening to my dad" lol. I can't complain too much, I got to come in as an E-3 (not sure the Air Force would have offered me that), got the MOS I wanted, got Airborne School in my contract, got assigned to a badass unit in a badass duty station. Being paid to live in Germany, jump out of planes every once and awhile, free housing, and did I mention Germany? Not a bad outcome, even my dad is a little jealous.

Sounds like you made out pretty well. It's funny because I sometimes wish I went in the army for a little more action. That's why I "voluntold" for a deployment. Lol. And assuming you got E3 because of college credits, you would have gotten the same thing in the AF. I came out E4 Becssue of college credits and Warhawk standards in BMT.

Note to the OP, learn at least NCO ranks for the other branches. I ALWAYS end up fucking up the other services ranks since the AF is ass backwards with theirs. Lol
