So, I've been hearing gunfire and sirens for about thirty minutes now, and I'm starting to become a bit afraid that something serious is going on, and that the Police are having a bit of trouble keeping the peace. I don't live in any ghetto trashy neighborhood. In fact, the neighborhood is actually more of an upper wealth neighborhood. 

 

The gunfire sounds almost as if it's right down the road a bit. I can't see any Police cars, but I can hear the sirens and gunfire. I also noticed that there are 3 Police helicopters in the sky, all using their spotlights and they're very far apart. Earlier, some officers were going door to door telling everyone to remain at home and keep away from the windows and doors until further notice.

 

I'm not sitting here crying, but I am a bit worried. Judging by what little and broken information I've described above, what do you think could be going on? There's obviously some sort of shootout happening.

Turn on a police scanner for your area.

Could be a shootout.S*&t happens everywhere regardless of the area.If you think something may be going on just keep your place secured they could be looking for some in the area.I would stay put if i were you allot of nuts running these days.Or it could just be fireworks.

 

I would get on a social media site and ask friends in your area.Then you would be able to get some more accurate local info.

In a shootout or something big, police often switch to cell phones or an encrypted channel. 

It could be a standoff or maybe a hostage situation or shootout, who knows. As stated in other post, you should turn on your local scanner and see or turn to your local news, they should know something

Alot of times if a man has barricaded himself inside of his house, there will be tons of gunfire because the suspect will be firing to keep the police from entering the house. Happens around the Chicago area quite often. Stay safe though.

Could be a fellow gamer playing LCPDFR with the sound turned way up I know my neighbours probably run and duck for cover when I'm in a Bohan gunfight lol. In all seriousness, stay inside and away from the windows.

I would just hang tight and do as you were told stay away from windows and doors eventually you will find out what happened. Don't be afraid know that the police have enough officers in the scene to keep you safe if you were at risk they would evacuate you out of your home so try not to worry too much.

Just check your local scanner. There are tons of scenarios that can fit what you described.

That is like seeing a pizza delivery guy and asking "what kind of pizza is he delivering?" There are so many different answers to that question that it is impossible to know what is going on with so little information, but if you really want some answers I can give you like a handful of calls that would warrant that response.

Home Invasion

Serving a warrant

Kidnapping

Barricaded suspect

 

The list goes on and on. Just do what the police tell you and you will be safe.

Thanks for all the help and useful tips everyone! Turns out that there were serial robbers or something on the loose. All 5 suspects were killed, and no officers were harmed or injured. This seems like a pretty big event. I doubt that It would make national headlines, but I could be wrong. Might be on the news or something.

5 suspects killed?! I think that would make national headlines, it isn't everyday that the police kill 5 suspects in a single day, not to mention a single incident.

If you Google Virginia, Alexandria City, or Fairfax County. I don't see anything on the news. A bit weird, seems like a pretty serious incident.

Pizza guy knows, but if you ask, he's going to have to go through a lot of different orders, meaning of a lot of different types of pizza+breadsticks, etc.
