Hi all, doing my first proper pc build next week and am about to order the parts. I am a little dubious about the following three though as I'm not too sure if they are compatible. could you give me a hand in checking?

Asus M5A78L-M LX AMD 760G, AM3+ Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2X4GB)

Phenom II X6 1054T

I'm pretty sure they are all compatible but i would really appreciate if i could get your say.

Cheers Guys,

Tom

PS: I haven't selected my graphics card yet, though it'll probably be around the price of

The CPU and motherboard are compatible (AM3+ motherboards can support AM3 CPUs) and the motherboard uses 240pin RAM. Looks good to me. As for the graphics, I'd go with something in the GTX 500 family, myself. (I use a 560)

it would be good if someone else can verify as well, an extra set of eyes are always helpful.

Good MB and Processor bro..!!!

Also max ram only 8GB...!!!

Anyways for graphics card your're spending $150..??

If yes I think you can afford either the

Sapphire HD 6770 VaporX or

EVGA GTX 550 Ti.

The rates are approximated by Indian Rupees and hope they correspond to what I have calculated bro...!!!

I would expect it to, depending on the graphics you decide on. The GTX 550 Aparna mentioned should be suitable for medium-high graphics.

Nice and it's right within my budget, cheers a load guys.

Also when it comes to a power supply what should I get? assuming I was to get the GTX 550 aparna mentioned...

On a side note, do you guys think that the yellow "post edited" notice is a little intrusive? I preferred it how it used to be.

MODERATOR NOTICE

Thread merged. Please avoid making new threads, if you've already got one dealing with the same topic.

Right, I have changed my mind about what CPU I am going to get. I was going to get the Phenom II X6 1045T but was told that GTA wouldn't use all 6 cores and also that the Phenom II X4 has a 0.3GHz gain over it anyway. The X4 is only a tiny bit cheaper as well.

Here is the setup as I am now going to buy:

Opinions, Thoughts?

Do you think GTA will run ok on this setup? what FPS do you reckon i could get?

Cheers,

Tom

Are you fucking kidding me? Why another thread? I'm merging this. No new thread for you.

Sorry, Forgot that I'd already created a topic on here as have been on quite a few other forums tonight.

Though there really was no need for that language though, a polite reminder would have been nice.

With regards to the new system you have planned, it looks ok to me. The PSU should have enough power for your system, the GTX 550 Ti definitely is not a bad card, and the motherboard + cpu are compatible (not much difference from the X6 you looked at earlier, besides the # of cores). i'd still expect medium to medium-high graphics w/ GTA.

Cheers Iconography, With regards to the video card though. I've heard that it's quite expensive for the specs and that there are better ones for the price. I've had a quick look but was wondering if you knew any off the top of your head, priced around

To be honest, I wouldn't change my mind if I was in your position. I have an EVGA GTX 260 myself and I don't regret it.

EVGA is my go-to brand for video cards, although I suppose you could look at what other brands have for the GTX 550 chipset (ASUS, PNY, etc). EVGA is the only brand I'm comfortable with at the moment. I've put my card through hell and back, plus it's a refurb, and it's been solid.

Well in that case it seems that the GTX 550 TI seems to be the way forward. Thanks for your help!

How do you think it would handle vehicle mods, the whole setup I mean.

I won't guarantee there is a 0% chance of a failure, there is with every brand, but EVGA has always done well for me. You're welcome.

That CPU is a bit underwhelming as new CPUs will be pushing 4.0ghz, I wouldn't want to be left below 3.2 at all. Six cores don't factor into video games right now. Also a 6770 or 550Ti would allow for settings on medium. I have a much better card (GTX 570) and a faster processor and I can only play on mostly all high details, not with everything maxed.

As Iconography said, EVGA is my "go-to" brand as well, so I would highly recommend it if you choose a GTX 500-series card. I received a defective GTX 580 Superclocked a few months ago, and I must say their customer service is impeccable. I RMA'd the card and they sent me a Superclocked+ in exchange!

Now, if you choose a 550Ti, I'm not too sure it could handle GTA IV on medium/max settings, as I average 45 FPS with everything maxed out with only a few mods (with an non-OC'd i7 2600K processor).

See at the moment i have a Radeon HD 2600 Pro 512 MB and can get 15 FPS with most settings on medium and two settings on high, Thats with 2GB of ram and a AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core. Do you think that i'll improve my FPS when i upgrade to a GTX 550ti SC ?
