Windows 8.1 Blue Screen Of Death Keeps Happening!

Recommended Posts

Let me make my self a bit more clear.

My PC over the last few days has been fine, however it has been a bit slow due to some dust in the rig, So today i went out and bought a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of my PC. Everything was fine i followed the instructions on the can and did short bursts of air with the can, when the can got really cold i let it sit for up to 5mins. Now everytime i have my PC on for longer than i would say 30mins. I get the windows 8.1 blue screen of death. Does anyone know how i can fix this? It is getting really annoying.

Also, before i close the post i must inform you, I am only able to run "Quick" scans with my antivirus and Malwarebytes because the system crashes before it can complete a "Full" scan. Also i read online some errors can be caused because of bad hardware, so i did a few months ago put in a ram stick i found just hanging in my PC (Most likely fell out during shipping) So i might take that ram stick out and see if that fixes the problem.

Ill try to help you the best I can.

Go into safe mode (spam f8 on startup) and use the arrow keys to navigate to 'safe mode with networking' on the screen. Log in, and do a full scan on malwarebytes. If it is still giving you Blue screen, it may be a hardware issue, as you mentioned.

Quickest bet would be remove the RAM stick & try it out.  If it was just "hanging" inside your PC, it's likely that it might be physically damaged somehow,

If that doesn't work, then yeah, do what SteelMods said & go into safe mode & try to do a deep scan (make sure to do updates for your antivirus first! :P  )

If my post made you laugh (or giggle) in any way, smash that blue grey "Like this" button & like it

I am not on Windows 8.1 so bare with me but...I did have an experience where I blue screened twice happened a couple weeks ago on Windows 7 64 Bit and found out my PSU was dying and eventually died out. I looked it up and I saw that the power supply dying usually can cause BSOD but I don't know your specs or how new your computer is.

I bought my PC refurbished from newegg. I bought it in February.

What is the error that the BSOD gives you? On earlier versions of windows you'd need to look up a error code along the lines of 0x000000 however with windows 8 it should say near the bottom: "you can search online later using this error code: SOMETHING_F*****_UP" for example. I've run into a BSOD issue on start up and it was due to a Nvidia driver not properly being installed.

Get that error code and it could tell you exactly what is wrong, or nothing. The RAM stick sounds like a likely issue since it's crashing at random times so if the computer is attempting to access a certain memory object it may not be there and just goof up.

Help us, help you!

It gives out different errors each time. Next time it crashes (Let's hope it does not) I will post the error.

BSODs are often caused by damaged RAM or another component on the motherboard. First thing I would advise you is to install some program to monitor temperatures (HWMonitor). Second: scan your ram with MemTest, it is build into BIOS in many cases, otherwise you can use a bootable pendrive with a Linux distribution. It'll let you decide whether  replace RAM or go to the service.
