Detective mode

Featured Replies

hey guys,

I had the idea some days ago that it would be pretty cool if there would be like a really small detective mode in lcpdfr too.. for example if you choose the fbi ped at the station you will receive other callouts (murderd person or somethin' like this) so that you really have to investigate a crimescene.

what you're thinking about this? would it be realizable?

That feature could in theory be able to be playable using the API in V1.0. It would take someone to code such scenes to appear.

Cheers.

It's a nice idea, but the LCPDFR mod is about a beat cop, and providing the tools to be a beat cop. Maybe it can be done with the API :)

It could be a possibility, but first, let the LCPDFR team make 1.0 playeble.

It's playable for me, not sure what you are talking about.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

It can be done with API, no doubts about it. The most important thing is to simplify everything, eg. missing person call: check hospitals (older person who had some problems with his memory), places where a victim could go to (he was a junkie -> check in Lower Easton/Bohan, prostitute? -> go to Chase Point etc.), go to an airport to watch CTV tapes (he might want to take a flight to Wisconsin just to GTFO from the city). Make a reverse investigation: what do you want a victim to do, take some places, plan what you could do to investigate. Before that you might want to read LCPD:FR API so you know what you can do and what you cannot.

I just had the intension to extend the lcpdfr mod not to change it... I think that many people out there using the mod would like to have the opportunity to try someting new as well.. especially when I'm using lcpdfr I wish to take my undercover cvpi, put my badge around the neck and absolve some simple detective work and spend some minutes longer as for the usual mugging callouts ore somethin' like this ;)

Remember the silly facial expressions for interviewing suspects. Ya gotta be able to determine when they lie and when they don't. :^)

well I guess we shouldn't make it this difficulty.. we know that there isn't the opportunity for facial expressions like in LA Noire but there are a bunch of cool things except this detectives could do in lcpdfr ;) unfortunately I really don't know how to program an API like this even if I want to... are there any tutorials for it or some cool nice guys here on the lcpdfr-page which could do so?! :)

It'll be impossible to investigate a crime scene. in the real world Crime Scene Investigators process the crime scene, looking for DNA, fingerprints and essentially anything to link someone to the crime scene.

It's very limited. also i know Olanov was joking with the LA Noire.. but he is kinda right, you can't really interrogate someone or ask questions with no facial expressions to tell if they're lying or if they're telling the truth.  the facial expression feature is what made LA Noire what it is, without it it'll be.. horrible. same thing will happen with investigations in LCPD:FR you'll be very limited to the point that it wouldn't be worth the time to script.

how would it be impossible to search for DNA(custom object / vehicle / gun? ), fingerprints(custom object / gun / vehicle), & suspects to investigate? also when was the last time GTAIV pedestrians didn't make facial expressions... this isn't impossible but could be time consuming making alot of random custom events for dynamic situations and replayability.

Nobody said it was impossible. it's possible to do, but you'll be limited to what you could do. so limited in fact that it'll be really easy to complete because you'll have 1 facial expression for each thing (one for the truth, one for lying etc) and it'll get r eally boring after a while.
