Hope these will be interesting: '70 Galaxie Wagon Police Package. The story behind is slightly unclear: it says that the car was Nixon's gift(?), the car served in Road Police (GAI) of Moscow and even appeared in 'That Sweet Word: Liberty!' (1973) movie partly set in USSR. And later in the end of the 70's(?) it crashed into ZiL-130 truck(?) or slipped off the road while escorting Brezhnev(?). Sounds weird, but that's all got by now. I also have some Soviet GAI's Porsches pics, if you gentlemen interested I can find them.

P.S. Greetings to Sheriff Justice, saw your marvelous K5 while you were participating our annual 'Retro-Minsk' events!

Does anybody know when the LAPD started adding the additional numbers on the trunk of their units?

I found a photo of an 78' Fury with numbers on the trunk, were these added in the early 80s to the remaining 78' furys still in service then

or is this just an error by the guy who restored this vehicle?

Probably an error judging by the roof font. LAPD used the blocky style font up until I believe the early 90s?

Just wanted to share some interesting photos of unusual or rarely photographed LA emergency vehicles I found while researching Los Angeles emergency vehicles from the mid-80s to early 90s ( for a project I'm currently working on).

Maybe some of them got already posted here, I don't know

1) Interesting he has a blue dashlight, I think I've only seen red ones. Also, on #3, did LASD mostly use red/red until the 80s? Then they switched from red/red to blue/red?

2) CHP must've been experimenting with lightbars. That's an Edge right?

I saw a unmarked LASD car with one of those dashlights too in a old cops episode, it's especially interesting since it doesn't have any steady burns or other lights from what I have seen.

The LASD used all red Twinsonics until around 1981-1982 I think, they used all sorts of lightbar between the 80s and late 90s, I've seen LASD Ford LTDs with LAPD Aerodynic lightbars.

I think the lightbar on that CHP Caprice is a Edge

80s/90s LAPD K9 unit vehicle (possibly a Chevrolet Caprice), can't say I've ever seen a photo of one before.

That is actually a Chevrolet Malibu.  My step father was a mechanic on those for the dealership he worked at.  Fast little cars.  But cramped.
