Recommendations on Buying a Gaming Computer

Featured Replies

So my graduation party was the other day, and I got a crap ton of money. I was thinking about spending the money on a gaming PC. I was thinking about buying the computer from Best Buy, but I don't know, since this is my first time buying a gaming PC.

I was just wondering what are some recommendations/tips on buying one:

- Price range,

- Components,

- Any other things I need to know...

Cyberpower is a good company for custom built computer (not sure what they're like in the US).

Do some research into what would be good components for your budget. You could also contact a company that builds custom built computers and tell them what you'll be doing on it and what games you play, and they should build one based on that. I did this for my first computer a few years ago and in fact I'm still on that one, just updated the parts.

I recommend you post this in the correct section, first off. Price range is up to you, I wouldn't spend any less than a grand on it. Components depend on your standards for graphical impressiveness and performance and how long you plan on keeping it.

Here is a solid build for $1,300: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QnyQf7  that build will run every thing on high-very high settings with no lag whatsoever and look good while doing it. You can also go with this build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HRw84D if you want to be future proofed for $1,600

Just a heads up, your 1600 link is giving a 404.

Prodigy (quote above) has a pretty good one for 1300.
