Computer fan sounds like it's shitting itself when I play a game.

Featured Replies

Hey guys, when I start a game on my new computer, it sounds like it's literally shitting itself, and I can't stand it.

What can I do about it?

Specs:

AMD FX6350 Six-core processor

AMD Radeon R7 200 series

8 GB RAM

I didn't build it, I just ordered it off a site.

Yeah, the description of "sounds like it's literally shitting its self" still doesn't tell us much. With this though a vague idea is that it might be your HD going bad.

Does it sound like this?:

Also if it just sounds like a gurgling sound could be just a loud drive (I know that sounds weird). My iMac had a loud HD and whenever I did anything work load intensive it gurgle like it just ate a buffet of spicy Mexican food. Here's a good article: http://burgessforensics.com/article_what_to_do.php

But again this is only if your HD is the issue, it could be any sort of issue. That just seems to fit the best in my eyes. Could also be bad fans.

Help us, help you!

Alright not shitting itself then, lol.

But it just sounds extremely loud, and it's definitely not the hard drive.

Buy a new fan and replace it is about all I can think of. Lots of gaming computers have large, noise fans due to the amount of heat the internals produce. Mine has 3 fans about 4" or so diagonally, they're pretty noisy, but I use headphones when I play so I don't even hear it.

Yeah, well I have other people living in the house so they get bothered by it.

Could you name a few good fans?

That's a good reason to get a new fan. Lol. As for a good brand, I'm not too sure on that. I'd search places like newegg.com for fans, that's where I bought my PC.

Have you opened your computer? If it's a forest of dust. That will make your computer heat up and make fans run faster.

Well I just got it, like 4 hours ago, so I'm pretty sure it's dust-free.

Well alright, I'll check around.

Is it a stock CPU fan? If so, that's your problem. Stock AMD fans are terrible, and rev up when your CPU gets to a certain temperature/load amount. I actually liquid cooled mine for the same exact reason. Those little tiny stock AMD heatsinks are shits. I know you probably won't want to liquid cool yours, so just go with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo or something similar, it's awesome for the money.

It's probably the fan itself. They are really cheap on Newegg, TigerDirect or NCIX

I recommend Noctua, they got really good/silent fans.

Agreed. Noctua is one of the better brands for fans, but I highly doubt it would be one of the regular fans. As previously stated, I believe it is the heatsink fan for the reasons I put. Also, the smaller the fan, the louder. And in most cases, the smallest fan is the CPU fan.

Is there a warranty on the computer from the original manufacturer? If so, you might want to look to that. If not: when does it get noisy? Just when you're playing a game, or does it also get noisy, say, on startup?

Yeah, I've got a three year warranty, I just sent an e-mail to the site.

It sounds more when I play a game.
