Does anybody else also hate GTA V driving physics and car damage ?

Featured Replies

First of all I haven´t play the game yet, eventhough I have Xbox360 I have decided to not buy it just because of that shitty arcade driving and stupid damage. I´m waiting for PC version so I can mod the game, because driving physics is absolutely crucial thing to me. I mean, I was looking forward to play this hyped up game so much, but when I saw that arcade shit I was literally disgusted :/

I´m happy with modded GTA IV, I use one great handling and damage mod, and LCPDFR 1.0 is just awesome, but still what a let down GTA V was for me ...

Am I the only one ? What´s your opinion ?

P.S

I expected that car damage would look something like that ... so close LOL

Actually the cars are quite tough in my opinion, and you can also upgrade the armor in Los Santos Customs. I like the driving, I got use to it after a couple of days, its got a good storyline as well.

bradyg I think he's complaining that the damage is not enough, not that it's too weak ;)

I do agree with you, I didn't like the handling or damage physics at all, I hate even more how they make it possible to hold a directional key down to roll a car over. I'm sorry but who on this damn planet can do that while sitting in a car?!?!?!

I too look forward to seeing how modders rip that mechanic apart.

The hype for GTA V was so huge, they kept going on and on about how it would be the best gta they ever made and how much money was going into making things life like. And then they released every car in the game as if it was a go cart from the gran turismo games (no damage)

I do like that your wheel can sheer off the axel and fly off and things but, that's not really funny when the car looks like it was doing 10mph instead of 90.

even though the car physics is very impressive and realistic but the problem why rockstar couldn't do that is simply if every car had that type of car damage physics it would be nearly impossible to drive the car and would make the game less fun and honestly annoying.

My PROFILE

At first I was absolutely disgusted at the handling physics, but of course I've gotten used to it now.

Also, the BeamNG engine is so badass.

I consider the handling physics to be a regression in the series. In my experience all the cars handle the same. I feel that Rockstar could have hired the guy (Killatomate) who made the Realistic Driving And Flying mod.

Cheers.

They changed the driving mechanics because too many players complained about the way it is in GTA IV back when the game was released in 2008.

I, like many other players, think vehicles actually handle better in GTA IV, but I got used to the new mechanics quite quickly.

If the handling lines in GTA V are anything like the ones in IV, it should be fairly straightforward to adjust both the handling and crash damage once it comes out on PC.

Yeah I hope so, that´s what I´m waiting for :D

I like the driving pshysics, I think they're a bit of progression in the series. And due to the different terrains this game has, just imagine IV's exagerated body roll in Raton Canyon, now that would be hell because of all the bumpy roads and the hills. Plus not every vehicle really feels like a Grand Turismo, I got into a vehicle like the Bobcat and I literally was struggling to accelerate on it. Also I drove the LSPD Stanier and it felt slower, literally slower than the SD version and the Interceptor.

As for the damage, the damage model of the vehicles is quite good and really detailed plus dynamic meaning that only the area that was crashed will be affected and will deteriorate with a few more hits and it really depends on the type of vehicle you're using plus it's even more realistic because you will not send a vehicle flying and spinning around by having it crash with an APC. The best vehicle to cause damage with is the Rhino, there is no doubt to that but the belly is weak so if you ever use it you should watch out if vehicles explode under you. And I really like that effect where the wheels can go off, it's literally hard to drive without them.
