Dual sirens have been available since v7..

Dual sirens wasn't a feature of v7 I don't think, it was technically a bug where the manual siren didn't stop when you started the main siren. Now it will be a fully supported feature that will work much better. Besides, dual sirens isn't the only new thing - the new key control thing, switching directly to a specific siren instead of cycling through, new patterns...

I've never seen a release date for major modifications, nobody even knew about V7 until it was almost time to be released.

I still haven't bothered upgrading to ELS 7. Is there any point to it besides more patterns? The release notes aren't very descriptive and ELS 6 sucked when it came to the AI using it. I'm using ELS 5 since it's more stable and the AI uses it well.

Well, the AI is a lot better, but the car configurations are the biggest thing for me. You can set defaults for each car and change lighting types and things like that (this applies to the AI too). Plus the sirens actually work. The default siren is disabled, but the AI react to the ELS siren now. They also react to the airhorn. And there is the manual siren so you can do the "woop wooooop" thing. And now with 7.1 you can switch directly to a specific siren type immediately.

 

Edit: Also no random lights spawning on the cars, and it is much more stable.

an awesome new feature you should add is make it so we can use the siren with a controller cuz i cant use my controller and turn the siren on in V7

Sounds pretty good, I might have to check that out. Now if only they can somehow combine this with the spotlight mod. I liked that mod, but I didn't like that you had to change the lighting coordinates depending on the car, but I suppose that's unavoidable.

One minor bug report... not sure if it's ELS related or not... but the headlights go off when you get out of the car. If those could be made to stay on, that'd be pretty cool.

That's more of a feature. Since the car is no longer in the player's control, the lights dim to save performance I think.

That's because of the same thing I pointed out.

When you shut off the car's engine, the lights don't light-up, & thus look "dim" (actually they're just off & what you're seeing is the color of the light "bulbs").
