Fundraising Ideas

Featured Replies

Hello, in light of recent Scottish events, me and my friend are planning to raise some money for the organisations involved such as Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and the Police Roll of Honour. Has anyone got any ideas on how to raise as much money as possible (they can be as crazy as you wish)

Thanks in advance.

As far as the Fire Department goes, fill the boot campaigns always seem to be quite popular.

Can I ask what 'Fill the Boot' is?

Sell all your stuff, that's what I do when I don't want it anymore

That's a really good idea need to get rid of some things anyway

Nothing wrong with giving some things up for a good cause.

My thoughts exactly, It is terrible what happened, just 5 minutes from where I stay as well. A lot of people affected

Fill the boot is a fundraising campaigns that fire departments around the US do to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Basically you stand on a busy street with fire boots and as people drive by, they drop some change or dollars in the boot.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think that would work over here in Scotland really. But thanks anyway

Except a) toll booths are optional and b) that's not at all what "per se" (not "per say") means (what it means is basically that something inherently has some property: driving with a BAC above .08% is considered intoxicated and so is illegal per se, regardless of whether you are meaningfully impaired; the other usage is pretty much only in negative contexts [claiming something is not the case], at which point it essentially is interchangeable with "as such"). It'd actually be more correct to say that "fill the boot" isn't a toll booth per se, but has some similarities.

Toll booths are not optional per se, but you could just drive through one without paying.

(I'm pretty sure that was a typo, but it is a typo that makes you say the complete opposite of what you mean).
