I wouldn't really worry about it disappearing from the face of the internet, there will (hopefully) be free modifications and updates made by a third party.

I'm hoping the developers will release the source code for it before they leave the scene though.

Hopefully so. Still going to make sure I keep a copy of the latest installer on hand just in case. It's not the most elegant media player out there but I still love it either way.

If I'm honest, I've always preferred VLC as my player for any type of media. Can play most codecs that Windows Movie Player can't, without having to download any additional files, and also has some nice features to clean up broken or damaged files.

I've used WinAmp for years, but over the past 2-3 I've been largely ignoring it with the exception of times I need to play audio files with odd extension types. I'll still miss it. I guess I can always use something like Foobar2000 (if that's still a thing) or VLCMedia Player, but they're both uglier in my opinion, and aesthetics matter to me since I liked to "skin" my WinAmp player to fit with my desktop theme.

I preferably use vlc media player, I have used it for a long time and cant get used to any other formats, and its a very popular media player.
