So, I was just driving around in one of my cars, when I get a call of a reckless driver. I was just driving to where the call was (the driver was going towards Algonquin), and I usually just like to pick up weapons off the road, to make the screen look cleaner with less weapons all over the place. So, like I said, I was just driving along minding my own business and I see the little red thing that the weapon floats in (if you know what I mean). So I see this little red thing, but at this point I'm driving at 60+ mph, so I slam on the handbrake and start reversing (because it didn't look like a weapon was there), and when I get to it, I see a bird! I saw it was in that little red thing, so I shoot it and I get a message on my screen '99 flying rats left in Liberty City'. Has anyone come across this? If you want to try it out for yourself, I can't remember the exact location, but if you know the Broker area as well as I do, you'll recognize the road (if you go past the Beachgate community and get on the on-ramp) it's just there before the bridge I believe. Yes, this is widely known, I believe if you get 100, the police maverick will spawn at the north police department in Algonquin. :D

I killed these Birds 100s of times, I just don't save the game.

Um...yeah...this is the "collectible" in IV. Hidden packages in III and Vice City; horseshoes, shells, graffiti (possibly others that I don't remember) in San Andreas; balloons in Vice City Stories; etc.

Now that you do, you have to go on a pigeon hunt!   In EFLC there are seagulls instead, 50 of them if I remember it correctly. 

I know about this since years now, yet, I still have hardly collected ( or shot [since you have to shoot them] ) 10, didn't really care about it.

But after reading kshark's reply (2nd post on this page), I think I might find some time & complete it, just to get the Police Maverick spawning

There are 200 flying rats in LC, killing all of them will gain access to the Police Annihilator (Not Maverick) on a helipad near Star Junction in Algonquin (It's the HQ of Liberty City Rampage). 

Note: The helicopter hardly ever spawns if you use the window cleaning platform to gain access to the building. It will spawn with almost 100% certainty if you use another helicopter up.
