I know that it has been written and developed this way, but I've got to ask. Why in GTAV when you stand in front of a cop for 10 seconds, you automatically get a 1-star wanted level when doing absolutely nothing? It doesn't make sense.

No idea. Same happened to me, I stopped to look at a parked Sheriff car on the side of a highway only to have the officers start waving guns in my face after a few seconds. They did however warn me to leave by activating the siren for a split second, but I took no notice. Let's just say I ended up with a two star wanted level and very badly damaged convertible. 

 

I'm curious to why the cops do this too. 

same here the cops are insane in GTA5

In gta 4 the cops only talked about doing your mom or donuts 

 

They are extremely unrealistic. 

probably because a lot of cops are like this in real life...maybe not as aggressive but they don't like to be filmed or have people stand by them

Maybe because 10 seconds are like 10 minutes in-game. They don't want you in their face for that long, just staring lost into their soul.

There unhappy due to their current salaries... they are taking the law into their own hands.. be warned.. do not look at them.. don't go near them and please.. don't take all the donuts in the city I BEG YOU! :P lol

Maybe the game has no mechanic for frisking you, checking your ID and dragging you downtown, because officers have a reasonable cause to believe you act suspicious, so it's done this way. You can give up and imagine you've been processed like in real life.

 

In  GTA IV, if you accidentally push a cop, you get one star too, but IRL I just say "I'm sorry" :)

It's not just the cops. Civvies can freak out and call the cops if you stand too close to them for too long.

 

Apparently, trespassing in someone's personal space is a felony in Los Santos.

I've only had them chase after me in that situation when I've played as Trevor:

 

Trevor [Flips Bird]: You guys are real losers, you know that?

Officers: Shut the hell up, scumbag

Trevor [Flips Bird Again]: You guys don't deserve the uniform! You deserve a straight-jacket!

 

They proceeded to flick on their sirens and speed after me whilst I was laughing my ass off.

I was talking to a female LSPD officer as Trevor: "You look ridiculous in that uniform."

 

Expecting to get a wanted level I ran away but she only shouted "Asshole!" after me.

Well, at least she didn't draw her gun like her fellow officers.

 

Once I ran in front of a cop but I didn't push him. He shouted: "I'm gonna teach you some respect!" and draw his fucking shotgun.

 

I also was standing next to a patrol car with two deputies on the highway. One deputy insulted me and then they got out of the car and pointed their guns on me. I ran off wihtout using an force, I didn't even have a weapon drawn but than I got two stars and the opened fire. Backup arrived and I kept fighting against this injustice till the very end

I was playing as franklin and wanted to take a picture of this two cops at the airport so I proceeded by taking my cell out. As soon as I aimed the camera at them they took out their guns and arrested me. I was like dafuq did I do!!.

I did noticed that when playing online, the cops are a tad bit friendlier than singleplayer. still sadistic lunatics with a badge and a gun but a bit friendlier.
