people annoying the police

Featured Replies

Damn, but yes it does piss me off but what are you gonna do

kill all the people who want to express their rights

Im an explorer and ive been called a pig and im not a cop yet

Because it shows up in a record check, which potentially paints me as a bad guy.

Police don't risk their lives for me. They just try to get their job done and keep their job. Several examples of this are within the NYPD, with this story and this one. Under Warren v. District of Columbia, the Supreme Court ruled the police have no duty to protect you, or me, or anyone else within America. While I believe there are cops who do try to help others, people in general will not help unless there is incentive for them. For police in general, it's the chance of action or to keep their job.

And notice how I never went to the extreme of saying abolish all police departments, only implying that policing authority is being abused. That's called argumentum ad absurdum, taking an argument to the utmost extreme in an attempt to belittle an opponent's view.

I am the primary one responsible for my own safety, and should I request help, it is almost always at least 5 minutes away. When help is truly needed, those 5 minutes are like having no police force.

You forgot one thing, are you gonna crackdown on the people in society that are dangerous, no, gangs will eat you alive, if there as no law and order people would do aything they want and harm or kill other people

they do risk their lives

But having a name associated with a police report means you look worse.

In the second story, the NYPD has a 4.5 minute response time. However, being that there were undercover officers in the area (they rarely work alone), response time could be drastically reduced, including uniform patrol. Based on the length of the chase, it should have been obvious something bad was about to happen, and there was more than enough time to get backup there. Someone was in danger, and the NYPD didn't act, despite having the capability, forewarning and resources to.

It's not police hating, it's reason. Too often on this site I see a fairy tale image of "all cops are gifts from God himself," and I get sick of it. They're people. Some are good, some are bad, some are just pawns, but an incredible few are perfect.

Also, if you don't want differing opinions than you, you shouldn't create controversial topics with one sided views.

I lived in NYC for 6-7 years and NYC would be hell on earth without NYPD

those police haters are just kind of stupid, they have to understand that there are a lot of good cops

I'm sure that the first thing they do when they got robbed is to pick up the phone and call the police!

If they are really that tough, why don't they just deal with problems themselves?

I think you fail to see the logic in all the arguments c13 provided. Why would we have to move away? I know it was meant as a joke, but this is no joking matter.

he was saying how he hated all govrnments so i gave him the idea to move to mars or the moon i didnt mean it for all you guys just him

I watched a video the other day by Cop Block,, basically buddy was walking through downtown New York asking every cop he saw for names and badge numbers, for no reason, and being a nuisance, 1 spot in the video they pulled someone over had him out of the car and he was getting in cops' faces asking for names and badge number and complaining about how it is his right, I can understand doing that if they were being inappropriate, but they weren't, they were doing their jobs, rules are a Police Officer should not be speaking to you unless they have a good reason to do so, it should be the same for civillians.

In my opinion this Pete Eeyr is just being a nuisance, holding police accountable for their actions is one thing, but this is just dickish..

Gamerdanger couldn't handle having it pointed out that no cop is a demigod, so he had to put false words in my mouth to try to belittle me.

I was pointing out that cops don't always protect people. As far as no law and order, gangs are cowards. They only do things when they are in packs. As soon as one goes down, they start running.

Yeah, resort to cheap insults. That will win an argument.

So you're trying to prove your point that differs from someone else's? That's by definition trying to win an argument.

And I'm on the site because LCPDFR is fun to play. Just because I play LCPDFR doesn't mean I instantly have respect for every cop I meet (I get to know people before developing opinions about individuals), much like playing standard GTA doesn't mean I support going on shooting sprees and insane car chases.

Does bother you that they go 20 above the speed limit and pull you over for 5?

It depends where you are, as long as they aren't going with lights or sirens  and they are speeding, you can legally go as fast as them, now before a flame war starts (not mentioning any names) I said it depends on where you are, I don't know what the U.S Traffic laws are.

ok, got you

I have respect for law enforcement in general, but as c13 has stated before, not all people should be officers of the law. Abuse of power is very easy in such a position, and I have no place in my heart for someone that disrespects the uniform by being an abusive person. I don't hate cops, I'm just like c13. I want to develop an opinion about a person before I trust them.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

What does that have to do with their faces on youtube? The fact remains that the first amendment is there to document and speak out against any and all forms of government, even if the opinions are wrong or if it goes against the oh so powerful government.

Actually, the 1st Amendment only protects you from the Federal Government.

State governments and municipalities cannot usurp the Constitution. This has been proven with civil rights cases relating to the 14th amendment.

but this mod lets you be a cop and if i am correct you hate cops soo explain that for me

Actually, the 1st Amendment only protects you from the Federal Government.

That is, to put it mildly, completely and utterly incorrect. While the Bill of Rights initially only affected the federal government, the 14th Amendment says that "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law". The courts have determined that almost any violation of the Bill of Rights by a state government has the effect of denying due process; for example, the entire First, Second, Third, and Fourth Amendments apply to the states in their entirety, the Fifth Amendment applies except for the right to be indicted by a grand jury for felonies (which has been held not to apply against the states), the Sixth Amendment applies except for the part where juries must be from the state and district of the crime, the Seventh Amendment applies except for the part about jury trial in civil cases, and the Eighth Amendment applies except maybe for the part about excessive bail and fines. Everything else applies to the states as well. Your argument might work before the 1860s, but it is totally wrong today.

I'll explain it for him. First, c13 doesn't "hate cops". He hates cops that abuse their power and violate Constitutional rights, and there are certainly cops who fit that description. He also doesn't instantly assume "cop = good person"; he expects cops to earn respect, just like everyone else. The only way that is "hating cops" is if you take the most simplistic rule possible of human opinion. Unfortunately for that, people are actually kind of complicated, and you can't divide people into "hate cops" and "uncritically accept everything the police have to say and how DARE you say a cop might have done something wrong".

Second, people who play GTA would, by and large (there are probably a few twisted exceptions), hate people who go around murdering random bystanders, shooting up bars just for fun, driving cars down the street running everyone over, throwing bombs on half the cars they pass, and doing really pretty much anything any GTA protagonist does. GTA protagonists are not good people. If one existed in real life, they'd attract the justified hate of pretty much everyone. And yet, millions of people play GTA. Explain that to me. Explain how people can play a video game and disagree with their character's actions.

did you even read his first comment he said i hate how cops annoy me so he was saying about that to all cops he is also throwing a fit about having his name in a police report as well and i dont know how to explain that people play a game and hate the charaters choice that will take me a while to explain the only way i could explain is to tell them not to play the game

You said you hate people who annoy cops for trivial things. I said I hate cops who annoy people for trivial things.

Again, police reports being associated with you is a bad thing to an employer. If you were hiring someone, would you hire the guy who was looked at as a potential suspect or the guy who has never had a run in with the police?

And the analogy blew past you once again. You're saying that because I play LCPDFR, I must like all cops. With that logic, anyone who plays GTA must like people who go on shooting sprees and commit terrorism.
