Some "role play" questions.

Featured Replies

Hey when I play I like to really do it as realistic as I can and not headshot everyone, like if a fight starts I get behind cover and stand there for minutes lol, if I blind fire I always miss and so on you know? Make the situation more intense.

Now I've a question how other approach the following :

- You pull someone over, you find out his license is expired, what do you do? Arrest or fine him? How about if it's revoked with no arrest warrant? In those situations I"m always confused on how to act more rpish and I'm not that good with law. Of course I can always just arrest everyone and so on but I can't decide.

Please share your usual experience on how do you act in those and other situations, it's cool to see how others do it :P

His license is expired?

Depends on my mood. First off, I will always make him exit the car, since he is not supposed to drive that without a valid license, then I either fine or arrest him, depending on how many previous citations he had and how my mood is.

Well i always do the following. If the driver has his license expired i ask him to get out of the car and i issue a citation or more, depends on what he did before i pulled him over.If he has no license or has his license revoked i take him to the station for a round of questions. IMO, a revoked license is as bad as no license.

Well, I know the belgian penal law and here in Belgium, no license or a revoked license means no car. The driver would be stripped of his car and given a notice to appear.

If the officer has a reasonable suspicion of drugs or weapons, he can frisk the suspect/car. An arrest is only necessary if there is a warrant, if he fails to comply, if frisking the suspect lead to incriminating evidence or if he had previous citations for driving without/revoked license.

It all depends which country you live in and your own preference.

"Dura lex, sed lex"

If the license is revoked/suspended then I would advise to make an arrest. Depending upon your state law, this may give you probable cause to search the vehicle. Sadly, in my State, a vehicle no longer falls within the scope of a post-arrest search. But, thats beyond the games ability. So, I'd say just put the cuffs on em, unless there's a reason where you feel a citation is more fitting. Just be sure not to let them drive :).

I always arrest them and drive them to the next Police Station

A suspended or revoked license is a bit different than an expired license. Suspended/revoked came from a court order, thus on a traffic stop I will either arrest them or give them a mandatory court date if another licensed citizen is able to drive the vehicle. This usually entails a quick call to the state attorney's office or my supervisor, but generally our agency policy is to make the arrest. To liken this to GTA, the most realistic scenario would be to arrest the driver.

Now, an expired license is one that has simply not be renewed following its expiration date. In the state of Florida, there are various statutes I can apply in this situation. If the license has been expired less than 90 days, I can write them a citation (similar to a fix-it ticket), where they have a certain number of days to go renew in order to have their fine reduced to an administrative fee. If over 90 days, it is treated like a suspended/revoked license as mentioned above.

So ultimately from a realism perspective, you can role play and decide how to handle it. If you want to follow the idea that the license is actually revoked by the courts, then make the arrest. If you want to assume it expired yesterday and they forgot to get it renewed, write the citation.

Generally speaking the way I operate is somewhat realistic. Revoked = Shouldn't be driving for a reason. Arrest. Expired = Take the person out of the car, and write them the maximum fine LCPD:FR allows, provided they didn't do anything else wrong or piss me off.

In NYS revoked is worse than no license, since your license only gets revoked if you've committed other criminal acts, as Bailey describes above. Usually if their license is just expired I make them walk. If it's revoked I arrest.

Sadly, in my State, a vehicle no longer falls within the scope of a post-arrest search.

That doesn't really matter around here. If it gets impounded they do an inventory search at the impound yard, and any illegal items found can be confiscated and the driver can be charged.

how do you write a fine one they are out of the car?

For 0.91? I think if you press alt + h you can choose between arresting a ped or giving a citation. In 0.95, I am not sure if there is actually a way to do it. I haven't been able to find one.
