Banned from Facebook D:

Don't swing the racism argument yet, just write politely that it's your real name and that you're willing to prove that storm indeed is your real name (pretty cool if you ask me).

Security reason? More like "HEY what does this big red BAN button do????" "Oh... crap..."

  • Facebook? Omg. -.- I hate this damn social networks, because I'm unsocial :P .

  • Lol My name is weirder and nothing has happened... Well you should wait for them to contact you, that's your best bet. They banned me one time for unknown reasons, and when I contacted them they told

Hey Guys!

Couple of nights back I got banned from Facebook for apparently using a fake name, However my name is legitt. It's my real name however Facebook keeps stating it's fake...I've tried to contact them about this being wrong but no response...

Any ideas?

I can't even make a new account because their system reads my name as fake... Storm Pedersen is my real damn name.

Also, How does Facebook even figure out my name is fake? That's the scary part.

So Yeah, How can I come back on Facebook with my real name? Any Ideas?

-Storm.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

I have always wondered why they made that site, everone had myspace and the FB came out and everyone was like screw myspace... after awhile i had made a FB account because no one was using myspace.

Yeah idk, they come up with all kinds of ideas to ban people or maybe it's because they are bored and are doing it for kicks?

who will ever know..

Maybe it is because they let a computer(powerful but dumb) do the job of a human. Computers are only as intelligent as the people who program them, and this ban system must have been programed by an idiot. The intelligent thing to do: let the computer find possible fake names, then refer that account to a human so they can research the name and decide. What kind of pathetic database are they checking the names against anyway? BehindTheName.com has Storm, do they have a database of only 60 names?

You are using the WRONG right theme!

One of the reasons myspace failed is because they slowly turned their site into one massive ad. I'm not just talking about flashy ads everywhere, but status updates, groups, games. The security, and ability to understand what you were looking at through massive layers of "MAKE YOUR PIZZIA HUT LARGER WITH THESE 11 TIPS FROM AN UNEMPLOYED DINOSAUR GOODYEARS BE WITH YOU 9.99" and the such. They have even less staff then facebook, so security was also an issue.

So if you think facebook is bad...

Well certainly Google will sell our information even harder to companies, we know Google, don't we?

On the topic of Google, they just officially made it a rule on Google + that any false names will get you banned in 4 days, with virtually no opportunity to appeal. And it's still in closed beta! So it looks like social networking sites are just getting [more] crappy.

More crappy? I don't see why people feel the need to provide fake names. I'm processing orders for IRC bouncers right now and 95% have been set as fraud because they just don't want to give their damn real name.

A lot of people don't actually post their real names because they're concerned about privacy. I have no issue with putting my name on facebook but some people apparently do and to them it does seem pretty "crappy."

EDIT: Of course, providing fake names just "for the lolz" is completely pointless and immature.

Just use Google+. Better security policy, simpler interface, and the president of the company doesn't call their users idiots in public statements.

Yep, and sounds like they should be thinking about getting more staff, not to mention the 200 some staff they alreay have just to sit back and make the site look pretty.(sarcasm)

If it wasn't in closed beta I would.

Have a buddy with an account? As far as I know there are no invite limitations.

Google+ just seems a little too far for me. I don't mind google knowing certain things, but I'd prefer not to have a company that makes all of it's money off ads and keeps records of searchs for years (tied with an IP adress) having all my information. Facebook seems good to me.
