Steam save games are located in this directory:   C:Users[userName]AppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IVsavegames   Note that you will probably have to enable hidden folders & files to access some

Take all the cars out and install the ones you replaced one at a time. One of them is bound to be causing issues for you. Also, since this is an issue with the performance of the game, this belongs in GTA 4 support.

How do i do that?

Go to your backup and get the vehicle image file. Copy it put it in the gta4 directory in pc data cdimages vehicles., then re-install the cars one by one.

I dont have a backup :/

Well then you'll probably have to uninstall and then reinstall the game. Shouldn't take that long. Also, make sure you make back ups of things BEFORE replacing them with mods, just incase they crash your game like this did.

I've already reintalled

If you have no mods installed, it's best starting as fresh as possible.

> Uninstall GTA IV via 'Add or Remove Programs'.

> Once uninstalled, delete the Rockstar Games folder from Program Files (there may be a few asi scripts hidden in here still)

> Delete any savegames

> Reinstall the game

> BACKUP ANY FILES!!

> Use the Rockstar Games v7 patch (http://support.rockstargames.com/entries/484496-Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Patch-7-Title-Update-v-1-0-7-0-English-1-0-6-1-Russian-1-0-5-2-Japanese-)

> Run GTA IV to test it (use the 'LaunchGTAIV.exe file in the GTA IV directory).

> Install LCPDFR - this will install all the necessary files for any mods, and also flag up any errors during installation.

> Run GTA IV again.

> Now you can add the rest of your scripts - testing every so often, and removing them if they crash.

I recommend using SparkIV to install car mods - not everyone agrees, I understand, but I find it simple to use. Remember to back up files though before installing new ones!

You have to manually remove the GTAIV folder after uninstalling, I know I did.  Also, run a registry cleaner and remove any save games, which is in your Rockstar folder located in My Documents.  There can't be any vestige of the game prior to the re-installation.

EDIT:  Oh, and always, always, always make backups of your files...just backup the whole damn game to be safe.  And don't install 4-cars at once.   Install one mod at a time and then play the game for a bit to make sure it works.  You wouldn't have this issue if you'd take your time (or if you had made a backup of your files prior to modding them).

Good luck!

I think its cuz i installed like 4 cars at one time... FML

I think the best thing to do is what myself & DrDetroit said - uninstall, delete all folders, reinstall, and then add cars one at a time, testing with each one. It's a painstaking process but at least you'll be able to get further with it.

I don't think the error presented will narrow down the possibilities much - there's a lot of things that could cause that. As it's an error presented by Windows, it doesn't give any codes or other clues as to what the cause was.

Note that you will probably have to enable hidden folders & files to access some of these folders (toolbar > tools > folder options)

When you do save a game, it's best to save it as Niko via the trainer - anything else and the game will probably get a bit confused!

Sorry to revive this topic but I am new to LCPDFR and GTA. I added the LCPDFR 0.95 mod and the spotlight mod. Worked fine yesterday, then today it says on bottom right LOADING - LOGGING ON then as soon as it should load game crashes. Is there any way to recover before or something? I do remember saving last as a cop on duty.
