Why release only textures?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am new to LCPDFR and GTA IV...

The problem is, when I want to download something on this site, I just the download the skin, not the vehicle files... I know there is an option to search for Models but, there is a lot of cool skins.

If I downloaded a CVPI skin, I won't know for which CV it's for, or it works on any CV?

I hope this is the right section for this.

The thing is that modders can upload skins as they want, but you are not allowed to upload models that you havent made without permission. Some modelmakers says it is ok to upload skins with the model as long as you give them credit for the model and don`t claim it as your own. I can see your frustration but if you find a cool skin you can ask the creator wich model it fits. :-)

Aha, thanks mate

Off topic:

Can you please tell me the police's car files?

The only ones I know are police and police2 which are for sedan cars.

Why people make more textures than models :

- easier and faster than 3D modeling

- free : zmodeler2 is a paid software

- permissions : sometimes, people don't want to share/unlock and so we can't tweak a model

- textures can be appliable to a lot of same model (example : almost all CVPI models share the same template)

- there are billion of CVPI, Charger, etc... unless the new one is unique, it's pretty useless to do one more with same stuff

Skins also need permission, if you use someone else's stuff. However, people might get started tweaking skins for personal use, while that's not possible for models.

Copyright reasons. If I uploaded a model and a texture that is installed in the texture file, people would assume that I created the mod. That's not what we want people to think.

I used to mod for GTA SA, I like the modding way for SA more than IV. You don't need to ask for permissions, as long the right credits are included.

It's because I wanted to make a Kuwait PD pack...It will take ages to learn how to edit models in zmodeler, and get permissions for the models I want.

Anyways, thanks all for the answers.

Plus, If Im not mistaken, Both the DSF CVPI and Caine/Bxbugs' CVPI use the same template.

I am really interested to know more about this website and the staff/members themselves too. This is a new adventure for me  . A new experience.

Also guys if you don't mind to help me here... No one replied yet.

No need to be rude here.......

He wasn't rude at all...

To the OP - You mentioned getting permission to edit existing models. Its not only that you need permission but you need the unlocked model which you will never get. You'd have to make every model yourself if you wanted something specific or different than whats already out there. Or just ask the author for permission to either use the car in your download pack or just put a link to their car that you would recommend people use your texture with. And I think its good that models can be locked unlike, SA. That way people can't grab whatever they want from cars and you don't have thousands of cars out there with the same setups just because people wanted to release a model under their name.

What? That wasnt rude..

Sorry.  That just hit me as a smart aleck comment.  Could have said....

Since you are new here, have you visited the models section yet?  It has tons of awesome models.  Also, some skins contain links to the models in the description.
