GTA IV Running Slow But Shouldn't?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I don't understand why my GTA IV is running slow. ALl my specs are above the recommended, and I haven't got gameplay on the high settings or anything. Why is it being slow and laggy?

Like Break said, what are your specs? What mods do you have installed, even car mods, ELS, etc.? What graphic settings do you have your game on? Do you have any background programmes running while you are playing GTA?

Intel Core i3 3.30GHz

nVidia GeForce GTX 650 TI 2048MB

500GB Memory

Mods are LCPDFR obviously, ELS, Double Doppler Met Car Pack, Police Helper, Met PED Uniform.

I have the following setting.

Texture: Medium

Reflection: Medium

Shadow: Medium

Water: Low

500GB memory? I'm going to assume that is your Hard Disk because I know of no computer out there that has/ can support 500 gig of RAM. But what is the RAM and the memory on your video card?

15GB RAM and 500GB memory.

GTA IV isn't really optimized good. So even high end PCs have issues. Its either a hit or miss in my opinion.

I have two PCs. The first one is

OS: Windows 7 Home Pre 64bit

CPU: Intel 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz

GPU: XFX AMD Radeon HD7750

RAM: 4GB DDR3'

FPS: On average 20-25 on low

10-20 with a ENB and mods

Second PC is:

OS: Windows Vista Home Pre 64bit

CPU: Intel 2 Quad Q9300 2.50GHz

GPU: Nvidia GTX 9800

RAM: 8GB DDR2

FPS: 30-60 on medium/high

25-35 with a ENB and mods.

Rockstar did a terrible job of optimizing GTA IV (since it's a console port) so don't expect it to run well on good systems. Best advice is just to turn down anisotropic filtering because it makes the game quite slow (at least for me anyway) and turn down the other options if needed.

Also, read this as well and see if the first suggestion works.
