GTA IV Not Launching

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I installed GTA IV on a different desktop PC, and it installed successfully, but when I run LaunchGTAIV.exe as Admin, a cmd window opens, disappears and then nothing happens.

I've used the G17 Diagnostics Tool, and got the following results.

One thing it says, before I click "More Information" is RAM Not Supported. (No clue what this means).

Here's the more information contents:

Enermax Ostrog GT Mid Tower - Intel Core i5 4690 @ 3.5 GHz
Windows 8 64-bit
EVGA GeForce GTX 960 FTW 4GB Graphics Card - Asus VG245H 24" Console Gaming Monitor
16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz (2x8GB)
2 TB HDD (OS/ Primary HDD) - 4 TB SSHD (Storage/ Secondary HDD)

1.75gig of ram?

You need at least four!!!

I have 8 and am considering getting more. Not sure if that is the problem or if its something else but it will definitely affect gameplay.

(Make sure to update game to 1.0.7.0)

The RAM is probably the reason that it won't work. What do your processors clock at? If they run too slow, that may cause it to not work also.

I have no clue where to look at the processor thing.

On my other desktop, in which I made the thread about "can't get past loading screen" GTA IV works fine on it.

And with reference to the 1.75 GB of RAM, I just read somewhere you need at least 2?

I got the game on Disc, so it should be up to date.

Still not working though.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is the processor thing, but here:

E2160 @1.80 GHz

1.80 GHz, 1.75 GB of RAM

Thats' the exact order under Computer: when I right click My Computer and click Properties

Dual core @ 1.80 GHz probably can't support GTA IV. That's most likely why, but I'm not 100% certain.

I know this is a very late reply.

But, what processor speed would you recommend, to minimize lag?

I'm planning on getting my own Gaming PC, and wanna know what processor speed I should look for.

Best,

KRI

Get an i7 Intel, 2.6Ghz or 3.0GHz. And your RAM...get 6 Gigs i have 6 and everything works fine, But 1.75 is not even close to enough (If you fixed the RAm problem ignore please) But your specs are crap compared to the minimum of what you need. I suggest a new computer or major specs upgrade.

Check my sig for my specs. I play the game on high settings with no lag or texture issues.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'm hoping to possibly get 12 GB RAM or 16 GB RAM, if possible.

And possibly/hopefully a 4.2 or 4.5 GHz processor speed computer.

I live in an area with a lot of gamers, and I was told if you want a good Gaming PC, to make sure it's at least 3.5 GHz for Processor Speed.

Also, any recommendations on how many cores it should have? Minimum listed on Rockstar Games' support site is Dual, but recommended is Quad Core.

Video/Graphics Card recommendations?

Any brand recommendations? Toshiba? Acer? etc....

Best,

KRI

Edit: KM964 since the only OS's listed on the GTA IV case are XP and Vista.

Does GTA IV work fine with Windows 8?

I'm looking at a gaming PC with the following:

3.5GHz 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge Processor

8GB DDR3 system memory

2TB hard disk drive

Windows 8 (64-bit)

24X DVD±RW Dual-Layer Super-Multi Drive

AMD Radeon HD7770 Graphics with 1GB dedicated video memory

Those are the main things I'm looking at.

Is the graphics card good enough for GTA IV?

you don't really need to go that far for a PC just for GTA IV (unless you play other resource demanding FPS games like battlefield, COD, etc)

I recommend NCIX (ncix.com or ncix.ca) for your computer parts. It's fine if you don't know how to build a PC because for $50 they'll put all your parts together and build it (and test it). For video cards, I recommend EVGA. I have an EVGA Geforce GTX 670 and all my games run fine.

PM me if you'd like some help :)

Specs look great on the comp your looking to get. GTA works fine with windows 8. EFLC however needs you to get the GFWL update. It's in a thread. But yeah.

Don't worry

I'm only using GTA IV, not EFLC
