Mod Suggestions? (HUD, Callouts, Etc.)

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I just got into LSPDFR, and back into PC gaming in general after a long hiatus.

Any suggestions for additional mods to add to the experience?  I have a fairly stable, small set of mods installed currently.

Primarily, I’m looking for suggestions for a functional HUD with street names and such, possibly some improvements to the map, and maybe some additional callouts.  Would like some callouts that aren’t necessarily chases and shootouts, more monotonous tasks would be great (assist with traffic stops for example).

Running LSPDFR, EUP (plus L&O and S&R addons), Stop the Ped, Ultimate Backup, Simple Callouts, and Wilderness Callouts currently.

 Thanks in advance!

Hi YakinDaks, love to see you finding your way back to LSPDFR after a long break!

I‘m sure I have some good recommendations for you.

You’ll have a few options here:

-PLD (PlayerLocationDisplay)

-SimpleHUD

-RageShowMyLocation

Personally I always used PLD however SimpleHUD looks really good (haven’t tried myself)

When I actively played, I never had a setup without Forests Of San Andreas Revised. The trees make the game a lot more enjoyable. Sometimes you even forget where you are simply because you don’t recognise the area you’re in due to the different environment.

For that I can recommend 686Callouts from @Charlie686 for you. That pack has a lot of calls that work more like an actual police officers day-to-day tasks like fare dodgers, disoriented individuals and subway disturbances.

Just to name a few mods that came straight to my head when reading about your requests 🙂

Thanks Lenny.  I’ll look at your HUD suggestions as well as the FoSA mod.

Those callouts sound ideal.  I’ve seen a few with such tasking, but they seemed to no longer be supported.

This is my first experience with LSPDFR, but I had previously spent many hours with LCPDFR.  Had quite a few “oh, right I remember this!” moments when installing mods and editing registries.

 Again, I appreciate the suggestions!

Following up on what Lenny mentioned, I would recommend SimpleHUD over PLD, but that's really because I use it more. You can decide for yourself, but SimpleHUD offers customizability and looks significantly better than what PLD offers. I cannot say the same for Rages option though unfortunately as I have never seen it or used it.

Alongside the Forests of San Andreas mod Lenny mentioned, I like to use LA trees, which add a variation of trees to the city area. There are other preferences such as replacing dirt roads with paved ones and colored street lighting, but I won't overwhelm you with those unless you want to try them out as its more visual preference.

I have some ideas for you, though I would need to load LSPDFR and look at the callouts I have installed, as I haven't finished making a mods list unfortunately, though I do have some I tihnk you might enjoy regarding that.

(686 isn't a bad choice at all though, so I highly recommend you give that a try)

Alright, I’ve got SimpleHUD running now, it’s great.  Had to remove some of my callouts.  Not sure which one was the problem, but my game is running much more stable now.  I’ve installed 686, really enjoy the dynamics of it versus others I’ve tried.

Still get a few LSPDFR plugin crashes, but they’re much less frequent now.  Also added GrammarPolice.  Didn’t think I’d enjoy it, but it’s freed my hands up versus going through the menus.

I’d like to try the FoSA mod, just hesitant as I’m only on a laptop.  Might tax my memory a tad much.

Does FoSA conflict with LA Trees? And in recommendations listed L.A vegetation, is it so necessary, because I think that guy is a "bit" outdated.
