Hey guys - first post here.. been playing around with this mod for a past few days...

Boy was there a slight learning curve... in regards to over-looking making folders not read only, NOT BACKING UP MY GAME, before destroying it and redownloading it (harhar) and figuring out SparkIV

I was looking for something to entertain me for awhile, came across a rather organized multiplayer group on youtube... and ran to steam to download GTA IV... been awhile since I played it.

Either way... I'm here for suggestions because these mods are rather large.  I want to see what you guys are using, incase I looked over something thats a nice addition - as well get any new guy questions off my chest.

Heres what I'm currently using.

LCPDFR (Latest verison)

ELS V6

Braveheart policing (Latest verison)

Police Helper

Traffic Flow

Towing Services

Medical Examiner

Heres some general questions I've got.  (EDITED IN REPLIES THAT ARE HELPFUL.)

1) I don't really respond to many of the LCPDFR calls, I use Bravehearts policing when I'm looking for instant action... when I'm in a pursuit of a drunk driver, or something or that nature - I cannot use the call for backup features that LCPDFR has to offer... I understand why - but is there a way to edit the script limitations to pick up on Bravehearts?

Policing Script (BRAVEHEART) does not talk with LCPDFR script.. no support given.

2) Do I need to keep the Towing Services Scripts - since I have the helper?  I'm not sure if the helper has this built into it, and I am able to use my phone that the helper supplies to tow?

YES - both scripts are maintained.

3) Will all of my current mods work correctly online - or will I need to disable/remove some when I'm ready to check out some clans?

NO - TrafficFlow mod noted to cause issues.

4) When I'm typing the name of the person I've initated a stop on... my lights, horns, and so forth will go crazy... is there a way to disable this?

NO - ELS mod conflicts with this.

5) I've noticed several people using "trainers" to disable certain keys - which is kind of a related question to #4 - anyone have additional information about this?

Unable to stop keys from interacting with keys in game.  Trainer disable key features are for the trainer, and not the game.

6) Do you guys recommend a backup copy seperate for multiplayer use as compared to some more unstable scripts that you would use in multiplayer?

YES.  Of course a backup of the main game should be maintained, also maintain a personal offline copy, and whichever setup is required by the clan you join online.

7) Is there a way, without using a control to make my throttle a bit more controlled... and not always wide open, or nothing?

Best option is controller... ;(

Also - I was wondering if there are any additional mods that add onto this that I've over looked for that you guys would recommend? Such as weapon replacements, uniform replacements, or first person views

Thats all I got for now...

Thanks guys.... gonna go back to watching bad socket replies for new uniform, K9 and car downloads... ;( I'll get'em at some point.

Help my channel grow and I can explain to my wife why this addiction to coding is a good thing!

1) I don't really get it... Sorry

2) To use the tow service in the police helper, you'll need the towing services script

3) Clans almost always have their own set of mods and cars that they'll send to you when you join them...

4) Idk, it's just because of the ELS keys

5) The only keys you can disable with the trainer, are the keys of the trainer itself. If you don't disable them, your trainer keys will conflict with your LCPDFR keys (most of the time)

6) The best thing to do is to always make a backup before you start modding

7) The best option is, buying a controller, I'm usig a Xbox360 controller for PC and it works perfectly

Hope it helps

For #3 + #6, this tutorial shows you how to have more than one functional copy of GTA IV installed. That way you can have one clean with no mods for multiplayer or with a clan mods installed, and another for single player with your own preferred mods.

http://lcresponders.com/index.php?/topic/427-how-to-have-multiple-copies-of-gta-iv-installed/page__hl__tutorial

That's also the website of a clan that i'm apart of too. You may want to check them out.

EDIT - 01/01/13

I don't know who gave me the - rep for this post, nor do I understand why. The OP mentioned the possibility of joining a clan and playing multiplayer, so I offered a way to keep their mods whilst doing this. I honestly don't see a problem in this, but the n someone obviously does. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know why you gave me -1 so I can attempt to please you in my future posts.

Kindest Regards

-Tom

When I'm chasing a drunk driver down using the script Braveheart - LCPDFR doesn't recongnize it as a chase and thus I cannot call in for backup - is there a way to correct this?

I've been having a few more crashes lately then normal - Every time the fault lies with the ELS file... any ideas?

And also - is the EMS team always on drugs?  They slam through all the cars, often runs his buddy over, never provides CPR... and leaves...?

I don't know if there is a solution for the policing script-lcpdfr conflict (i'm no coding expert)

Wich crashes do you have (error codes if thre are)

And that's just the standard GTA IV EMS, they're doing that since GTA III

Its not an error, it's a known part of the policing script that the LCPDFR backup will not respond to a car chase in the policing script due to the fact that the scripts cannot communicate.

Use the Coroner instead of EMS.  The EMS guys will get you killed (they run over everything and everyone) and the Coroner is chill and will revive the body if he/she is still alive.

I have heard that you need to remove trafficflow when you play online with others. This is because it`s messing up the game for the other players. Or so i`ve heard. Anyone correct me if i`m wrong.

And BTW:

Hello and WELCOME .....Welcome to city...no that was wrong...welcome to the LCPD:FR community! Hope you will enjoy your stay here and hope you get all the help you need.

Yes, this is correct but since when playing online you use all the default vehicles you don't need trafficflow anyway. Online, traffic flow spawns cars that only you can see, meaning other players can't see it and they end up driving into them.

I'll go into more detail next time I get one - sure it won't be long.  Game hasn't misbehaved yet today... -.-

Thanks for the help so far guys pretty nice community around here.

Click your name on the top left and then click the "My Crime Stats" link, and then at the bottom of that page you need to click "Want to embed these stats as a signature?". Then just embed the image in your sig.

Thanks - I checked out that link to your clan site - attempted to join/read the rules but it was not able to find the page...

Looking for a none-RP clan, that seems to have more adults.. Not saying you guys don't - I have no idea... just simply stating what I'm after...

To join, you just click the register button. To find the in-game rules you just click "In-Game Guidelines" under the "More" tab. It's more of a multiplayer group, we aim to have fun. We're not hardcore roleplayers. Most of us are 15/16, however some members are 20+

* I have noticed this also. I'm not 100% sure if there's a fix for it. I usually ignore the "Wanted Person" "Drunk Driver" calls.

2) Do I need to keep the Towing Services Scripts - since I have the helper?  I'm not sure if the helper has this built into it, and I am able to use my phone that the helper supplies to tow?

* I would keep the Tow Script. It's actually one script that rarely, if ever, crashed or causes any issues.

3) Will all of my current mods work correctly online - or will I need to disable/remove some when I'm ready to check out some clans?

* If you play online you will probably have to rid the "Traffic" mod. I play in a group online and it just causes too many issues/crashes. I don't know many groups that will want to play with you if you have it installed.

4) When I'm typing the name of the person I've initated a stop on... my lights, horns, and so forth will go crazy... is there a way to disable this?

* Unfourtnately there isn't. The ELS Mod conflicts with this and there isn't a way to fix it. You'll notice everyone's does that if you watch any LCPDFR video's on YouTube so I wouldn't worry about it!

5) I've noticed several people using "trainers" to disable certain keys - which is kind of a related question to #4 - anyone have additional information about this?

* Yes we use Simple Trainer, most of us, to disable certain keys. I also use simple trainer to set weather, time, car options, car spawning, teleporting, anything and everything you can do with LCPDFR. I would highly suggest downloading it.

6) Do you guys recommend a backup copy seperate for multiplayer use as compared to some more unstable scripts that you would use in multiplayer?

* Yes. I always back everything up. If you end up playing online I would certainly back up files you want to keep when you play Single Player.

7) Is there a way, without using a control to make my throttle a bit more controlled... and not always wide open, or nothing?

* Some guys use Xbox controllers and it helps with that but I feel like it's a bit of a hassle to set up. I was terrible at driving when I first started and I have gotten a whole lot better. If you stick with the Keyboard/Mouse you will get better with time. I set my controls a certain way that made it easier for me to learn. I have my vehicle accelerate set as my left mouse click and my brake set as my right mouse click. You can use the mouse to control the camera as well and this was just simpler for me.

Also - I was wondering if there are any additional mods that add onto this that I've over looked for that you guys would recommend? Such as weapon replacements, uniform replacements, or first person views

* There is plenty of mods you can add. That's what makes this game fun after playing it many many times. http://www.gta4-mods.com/weapons is a good site for weapons. http://gtapolicemods.com/ and of course www.lcpdfr.com are good sites for vehicle models and textures. www.lcpdfr.com is the best, I feel, for uniforms. Of course if you join an online clan they will send you their own uniforms/vehicles.
