Texture Loss, Please Help

Featured Replies

I recently bought a new OS so I could use all 8GB of RAM for my system. I thought that having more memory would allow GTA to use as much as needed to load textures. I went in game and started LCPDFR, went to the station, came out to choose my vehicle, and I hit enter when the vehicle came up that I wanted. The car did not spawn and then all of my textures disappeared. I need some help. I do have a commandline. And a decent graphics card. Here are my specs.

AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.2Ghz

8GB of ADATA 1333Mhz DDR3 memory

Nvidia GTX 550 TI 1GB GDDR5

I hope someone can help! Thanks.

  • I try to make my scripts as light as possible. Some of them like TowingService and METT/Coroner work only when called so they may slow down a bit the game only when you call for them. Scripts working

Probably a bad mod somewhere. I noticed that it would happen to me when I had a Car-Mod that didn't necessairly like my system too well, It also could be:

  1. You aren't running GTA as an Administration Mode
  2. You aren't/Haven't tried to run GTA in Compatibility Mode.

Although I do not have a low-end PC (at least in my perspective) I have already tried a commandline. I appreciate it.

You know in LCPDFR when you disable police world events try that? It stoped a few of my texture losses

Okay. It seems that I am the only person that has these texture problems. It seems that traffic flow is my problem, but everythone else that has it doesnt have texture loss. Is threr any way to make GTA use all of the RAM necessary besides the commandline. I heard somewhere that patch 4 is a fix.

What you may want to do is try to just place in your original vehicles.img and that SHOULD fix the problem. Then from there, just add 1 car at a time. Jump in game each time you add a car and check to see if there is any texture loss

Everything needs more lights.

iIll give it a shot! I've seen your videos and it looks like your game is heavily modded with all types of neat high poly cars and such. Have you ever has texture problems??

Well, yes I did.

That was when I used a car mod pack, that modified every single car in game. Here is a specific time in one video where that did occur:

I had a lot of high poly cars in the game at one time so it did cause those errors. Though now I just use police cars and I have no problems. Even though receintly I did add a few modified cars(Custom bus, sports cars...etc) and the problem came back again. So your best bet, is to just stick with a few cars. Maybe 6-8 of them.

No, you're not the only one! I sometimes have similar problems!

Here were/are some of my solutions:

-Commandline (you've already done; but experiment with different ones)

-Low poly-cars --non ELS cars are much better (but I understand ELS is much cooler  and I am using it right now regardless!).

-Run GTA IV as ADMIN using the "Launch GTAIV"(copy to Desktop).

-Lower texture settings (water, view distance, textures, etc).

-Minimize lots of unnecessary script mods.

-Install mods one at a time ( a pain, but probably worth it).

Obviously avoid using ENBs, etc.

I am running it on 6gb (5.80gb usable) so just experiment!

I hope these helped a little bit

Regards fbo194 :)

I also got similar problems, even just a minute ago... I have a new graphics card next to me but I can't install it because it was delivered without power cable so I have to wait for the cable... But I've also tried commandlines, lowering textures, etc... but with me, it's just the graphics card...

I can only advise the things above, and I wish you good luck wit hfinding a solution (because I don't really have one  )

I do not know what you mean by "minimize" unnecessary scripts. Im guessing you mean get rid of or turn off? thanks for the help!

Yeah things like towtruck, policehelper, ect; although fun aren't required to run LCPDFR obviously, but do slow it down. No problem!

I try to make my scripts as light as possible. Some of them like TowingService and METT/Coroner work only when called so they may slow down a bit the game only when you call for them. Scripts working in background are no problem. Texture loss usually gets worse when script isn't optimised enough and leaves trash data in memory and that problem MAY occur with my scripts. If you are certain that my script causes it just PM me :)
Also if you have problems with textures try to start from scratch. LCPD:FR and GTA only, no moded cars, no other scripts and then install one script at a time to see if specific thing is causing your texture loss.

I really do love your scripts, but I wasnt sure if they were causing my texture loss so I removed them. Now that I know that the towing service and coroner mod dont cause texture loss I will put those back in. What do you think about police helper? Is it always running and using memory? Thanks

You have to test it yourself. PoliceHelper is well tested but it is so complicated that I can't guarantee that it is 100% bug free. I'm playing with all my scripts without texture loss, you just have to see by yourself if they work as they should in your game and on your system.
