NPC's stealing my police car, not a crime?

Featured Replies

HI,

first time I post here. Tried to to search for the matter, couldn't find a previous post about it.

As we all know, if you leave your police vehicle unattended and it blocks the driveway, the game will try to clear the block by sending a NPC to steal it. Just happened to me and as I watched my Charger to speed away, my instincts told me to call for backup. But there is no blip on my car, LSPDFR doesn't recognize it as car theft.

Would be cool if you could call it in, wait for another patrol to pick you up and join the chase. And if you are lucky, you get it back, in one piece.

Yeah, I agree with that.  With some mods you can have the doors auto lock and unlock when you are a certain distance and I've had peds run up to my car and try to open it.  Sometimes I'll go up to them and stop them and question them.  Maybe arrest them for attempted GTA if that is even a charge, no sure.  I had my car stolen a few times in the past even with the door locks because the distance from me to the car was too great it didn't lock the doors.  One time I had 5 peds in cuffs because they all ran up trying to open my door.  That just happens a bit too much it gets ridiculous especially in the City.  It would be nice for the game to blip the ped since they are or tried to take your Unit.

One strange thing i noticed by chance, is that the car is seldom stolen if you leave it with the siren ON. The siren-sound will be cut emediately, but the blinking lights will not.
What state that places the car in, idk, but it seams that it is less often stolen.
If your car is stolen, you can easily get a new.
Press F4.
In CLI type: spawn poli
You will get a list of all police-cars, and you can browse them with arrowUP/DWN.
When your chosen car is highlighted, press TAB -> ENTER -> F4 in turn.
The car / bike will spawn right in front of you.

You said the siren sound cuts out emediately (immediately).  Are you using Automatic Siren Cutout by Rich?  When I leave my vehicle with the siren on, it stays on until I turn it off.  I assume you have Automatic Siren Cutout for when you leave your vehicle it turns the siren off.

Wish I knew how to do plugins or mods because there was this old callout that is outdated now but when you bring up that callout menu (it was either Law Callouts or LP Callouts) it would have a "request vehicle option".  Select it and pick which vehicle you want, even your addons, as long as your addons were added to that callouts ini. xml.  Then someone would drive to where you are with the vehicle you selected and get out and walk away.  You just get in and take that replacement vehicle.  I think it would just be a bit more realistic than spawning but that feature doesn't exist right now.

In the past I have had mods that lock your doors when stepping away from the vehicle. And yes, it would prevent stealing the car. But it is just a workaround for the matter. On the other hand, yesterday I had gang involved shooting callout. Many units present, lots of bodies and suddenly there is 3 police vehicles being stolen, so blipping all of those and initiating pursuits would also be unrealistic. Maybe it would be just best to prevent NPC's from taking those vehicles.

If you use StopThePed, you can just aim at the car and then press "R" to mark them as a fleeing vehicle.

I actually didn't know that, thanks!

No i have NO add-ons at all.
The Only explanation for your siren not to go silent when you leave the car would be differences in publisher. I have GTA from EPIC.

no its not a publisher thing, its a feature with defualt cars (as i bet your useing els cars, and the op is useing the defualt cars i bet (as he said he has no addons) like my game, i have non-els cars for all the police and sheriff slots and when i get out, the siren auto goes off (the lights stay on but the siren quiets) ive heard others with els that they complain that when they get out the siren is still blasting , and i think to use els car, you need to make them addons , so the default cars wont get touched
