I've also acquired the Sims City Beta (Just got the email Break :P). The gameplay felt pretty nice to be honest, and it played smooth for the most parts. I guess we'll have to see how it goes when the end product is released.

I'm trying to play the BETA, I download it, and open it up then it downloads an update and when I click restart, it then tells me that it's missing files needed to run and that I have to re-install.

  • 1 month later...

Well guys, the game is out!!

http://www.simcity.com/

I personally hate how slow all the sites are now so I went to Amazon and bought it there. Downloaded origin[ugh] and installed. Took about 30 minutes for everything to be finished and playable. (when the server crashes just hit restart and it eventually installs).

Will be uploading a video later tonight so if youre on the fence, I would wait to buy.

If you have bad internet, do not buy this game.It has a permanent internet required thing where if your internet crashes, so does Sim City *yay*.

Anyways, havent played it yet. Will post my review later today. :D

EA have ruined another franchise, let's look at all the "good" things EA did to this thing:

  • You need a permanent internet connection
  • If your favorite server is busy, you have to wait.. To play a game YOU bought
  • If you select another server, your city doesn't transfer over
  • Save Games are randomly deleting themselves
  • If you pre-ordered it, it wouldn't work. You had to buy it again ($$$)
  • If and when they shut down the servers in a few years, you'll never be able to play again

As much as I had peaked interest in this game, those above points prompted me otherwise.

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

Ram: 16GB Skylake

Hmm thanks for sharing,I may reconsider getting it :/

Well, after playing it for a good hour(uploading video now) I must say the game is quite good.

While the maps may be small and the permanent internet thing might be a downer, the animations are great and the possibilites for MP are endless.

The room in which my gaming PC is located has pretty shitty internet connection(with a regular wifi adapter connected).

Just to test Sim City, I took off my antennae that gets me great internet and put on a small adapter and I was getting pretty terrible internet.

I did not lag nor get booted out of Sim City once!

Also, I did not experience any server overload issues or anything!!

So while the technical sides of things might be an issue to some, the gameplay is awesome! Also, the internet thing doesnt seem to be that bad of a problem(steve, it shouldnt cause you much issues)

EA only wants your money, they are not interested in making good games, they are only interested in getting money, they are willing to alter their games so they can generate as much income from them as possible, perfect examples of this is the preoder "bonuses"/Day 1 DLC. EA are also going to add microtransactions to every single player game they release, apparently "that's  what the users want.

Then there's the question of the way they justify their DRM, EA said that a part of the reason is that the game is so complicated, the simulation is so complicated, that it can't run on your own home PC, it's simply too complicated. Instead they do some of the simulation on a server somewhere.

This is most likely complete bullshit, either they are lying which will be proven either when it is cracked to work successfully with locally stored regions and off-line playability or if EA releases a patch that also enables off-line playability and locally stored regions.

That is why I won't buy this game, I haven't bought a game from EA in years and I do not intend on doing it again until they change actually care about the games they publish and care about the customers.

well it is for sure a fail launch of this game, I still haven't tried it out yet and i've been trying for good 6 hours now. That said i'll lust get back to a good single player game called Sim City 4

Everyone who is already registered, today they announced that on the 18th you will be getting an email with information of how to clan your free* EA game.

And to get us back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio. On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game.

*I wonder what the limit will be on your free game. $50 maybe if your lucky, $25?

Yeah knowing EA it will not be much. But at least they are doing something.

I have live streamed quite a few Sim City sessions(They are not anywhere near my usual upload standards-mic is breaking, I am sick) but I still uploaded them.

Here is one uploaded from livestream to youtube:

Pahahaha. That honestly made me laugh, EA giving things away for free?

Don't expect anything fancy, it'll probably be a 25% off coupon for any origin title when you spend a certain amount of cash on games in the store.

Typical EA trying to cover their mistakes, I lost respect in that publisher years ago, they've wrecked too many good games and further injured themselves by refusing to allow any of their games on steam forcing users to use the Spyware Origin.
