Working In Da Police :D

Featured Replies

Wassup guys :D

So just a random discussion, what law enforcement agency would you like to work for?

Personally mines would be Metropolitan Police (London) doing patrol and road work or MI5 as a field agent (because that would be epic) :) But if I was American it would be the CIA/FBI/NYPD becuase they're all awesome :)

What would you guys like to do :D

A traffic officer with the Metropolitan Police (London).

  • The Central Intelligence Agency is, as the name says, an intelligence agency and not a law enforcement agency. The information they collect and analyse can however be used for law enforcement purposes

  • APD Atlanta PD You are absolutely hated by 90% of the city. They are so few that they are all protecting Atlanta from going to anarchy. This sums it up.

OCSD or CHP.

Cali :D

Its my home county. Havent EVER lived out of it.

However, Orange COunty is a rather dull county in the area I am living so I may want to branch out. Depends on where college leads me. But I can benefit the most there becuase I know the streets very well.

Only department I would be willing to work for is the Alaska State Troopers

Sketchy.

I would love working there besides the fact you have to serve two years at a village post

We already have a tread about this that's several pages long, as I recall.

If I ever get enough cash, I'll move to America and eventually work my way into the LAPD or NYPD (Its possible, but very very difficult for a Brit)

I've dreamed of that my entire life but as I got older, I learned to accept the fact that it is virtually impossible. You have to bear in mind that to be able to work as a LEO in the US, you have to be an American citizen. Owners of a green card can become US citizens after 5 years. This would mean that you have to do another job for at least 5 years. Only then will you be able to apply. And that's just a start. I'm following a master degree in criminology but I'm pretty sure my degree isn't valid in the US. So this would mean I'd have to start all over, learning a completely different justice system.

Also, the only way to obtain a visa is a Work visa or a Family based Immigrant Visa. So either marry an American citizen or make sure you already have a job there before you move.

If I were you, I'd stick to the RPU  Nonetheless, I wish you all the best in pursuing your dream!

Now, on topic, when I graduate in a couple of months, I'll apply at a police academy and hopefully get selected. Based on my 3 months internship with them, I'd like to join the Federal Judicial police as a detective.

Its k.

I'm apparently marrying Mai's sister

I'll be with the RPU for a good 10-20 years before I even consider it. The Metropolitan Police sometimes send officers over there for a good few months to experience how they operate so that could be another alternative.

Although driving that sexy BMW in the RPU will be great fun.

Lol  That would indeed be the best way. I've considered that as well actually. Belgium also has liaison officers over there or perhaps I could try Interpol although that's a long shot as well. Maybe I could apply for Belgian liaison officer with the Sussex Police RPU. I would certainly enjoy a ride in that Beamer.
