Like i said.

I do accept the fact that they are making mistakes...and yes i agree with the fact that you should not love everything cops are doing. It's not like i'm saying that All Cops are superheros. There are all sorts of bad cops out there.

All i want you is to think about the fact that they are not ALL bad. I don't want you to love them or anything. I just want you to think about what you would do if you where in these situations. And in real danger sometimes. (not saying cops are risking their lives 24/7 but lets be honest..it happends some times)

And i don't think it's right to "hate" the entire police for the mistakes that single officers are doing.

Thats like i would say "Hey the other day i got attacked by an Canadian...now i hate the entire Country for it" This is madness!

I think you misunderstood my point. I don't hate cops. I recognize that they are a necessary evil. What I hate is how they are being used and how many are getting away with their crimes simply because of a badge and a gun, and if anything is done about it immediately by the victims, then they get arrested or killed.

A classic example of victims getting harmed is Ruby Ridge, where Feds harassed a guy and got angry that he wouldn't join a militia to spy on them. They eventually had uc's pester him for some sawn off shotguns, and after repeatedly saying no, the man finally conceded. Feds were on his property despite not having a warrant, and shot his dog, provoking return fire from the man's boy and a friend--rightfully so (FBI Deputy Assistant Director backed up that decision before people get on me for that), because they saw guys in camo trespassing on their property shoot their dog. After the standoff, the man's wife, baby, 15 year old son and a US Marshall were killed. The man's charge? Bail violations, missing court date and it all started because he refused to be an informant and sawed shotguns 1/4" too short.

My main point was that it is reasonable for law abiding citizens to hate cops. As for me, as I already said, I don't like the job, but I don't despise it either. What I do hate is corruption and slaps on the wrist for major crimes.

What? Are you telling me as a german i can't tell right from wrong? C'mon dude. This is not about the "supreme law of the land" this is simply about the fact that you don't know how it is to be in these situations (i don't know that too)

What I am saying is that you would not have the same appreciation of American rights, much like most Americans would not have the same appreciation of yours. What I am asking for is cool level-headed decisions in situations, there is no excuse for tazing an 86 year old bed-bound woman for a "threatening posture."

I never said that. In those cases you are right..But thats the point i'm trying to make...If some Officers do a bad job...why is it ok to hate the entire Police then?

Thats like i would would say "hey the other day i got called an Idiot by an Canadian...now i hate the entire Country for it" This is madness!

As I have said, I don't hate the entire police, I hate growing police corruption. Also, some of the issues I originally pointed out were the result of an entire police force. The NYPD's quotas aren't set up by the beat cops, but by the higher ups.

Wow you really rub it in to me that i'm a german don't you? :D The Fact is that a lot of people did but they got killed by a hitler (who by the way wasn't even a nativ german) Anyways.. this isn't about Nazis xD. Listen buddy.. I don't say you shoudln't speak up or not say your opinion..All i want from you is to think befor you do it and that you might have a talk to people who where involvend in those situations befor going on a Holy War against the entire Police xD

I was a bit excessive with the Nazi references (which I hope you know was not a personal attack), but that is because it's such a good example of when people didn't speak up because they weren't directly involved. Also, in my original post, I was calling my Nazi argument overused, not the argument that "cops are just doing their jobs," which gets annoying also. And no, I'm not going to go out and kill someone for no reason. I recognize that there are good cops out there, as I have said I know some. I just want all the corruption to end.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

This is seeming to become a flame war regarding things no where near the original topic. Chill guys.

I have to disagree, Flame Wars are generally completely off topic slanders pointed at one another to simply aggravate a person you dislike. I haven't been viewing this thread much but I have skimmed through it, I've only seen a few off topic posts some a little bit more heated than others, but it's all within the boundaries of the topic, which is how you feel about law enforcement. True some people are getting heated about it but I haven't viewed any outlandish slanders against anyone, everything seems reasonably on topic, just simple debate about views. Other moderators agree since a few brought it up as well. I'll continue monitoring the thread just to make sure, I will agree everyone needs to remember, your talking to another person, and regardless of your views, everyone needs to respect one another, even if your views differ. If any posts become off topic/outlandish, they will be hidden, simple regular protocol. if the thread gets totally out of hand I will decide whether to eradicate the issue or simply close the topic. We can all have a simple debate here, it's up to you (The Members) to make it worth while and not make it go out of hand by being mature.

Ok i can respect your last statement cj.

Your first post sounded to me a lot more agressiv and it made me think that you would hate the entire Police.

In your last post you showed me that this is not the case. You just hate the mistakes some are making plus all the corrupt Cops. And i can live with that. I even agree with that. Dirty Cops should burn in hell. I just wanted to make clear that not every Cop is like that and you shoudln't hate the Police simply because they are the Police.

i think we can say:

Bottom Line is:

Yes there is corruption, yes mistakes are made BUT we also need the Police and we should respect all the Cops who do their job the way it's meant to be.

@jam-justin35

I agree.

Whenever I see a Police Officer, I don't really have a "Insta Respect" like most people do, I do however give a small amount of courtisim. When I meet a Police Officer it's just like meeting anyone else to me, it's their personality and morals are what I'm going to base my views upon off of. That is the one thing I hate about the whole "Cops" thing, most Officers are generalized like Dell computers stamped out of a Indonesian shop, there expected to all be equal and and robots of enforcement, I have to say you can't expect this, and most people do, which is why after a while, they start to have hatred for Officers. You have to remember they're people, just like you, they had a child hood, had good, and bad times, and each and own have a different personality, so again, who they are is how I base my self off of him/her a as a person, and not a Police Officer. I generally have a decent sized amount of respect for them in general for what they do on a daily basis, being a Police Officer is more than just handing out tickets, it's a life style. You make crap pay, you get treated like shit by people who generally dislike you just because your wearing a uniform, see things some people simply cannot handle, and you are simply a public servant, as well as they don't wear armor and a gun for nothing, it is in fact a dangerous job, but again as I stated, most of the time I will base my views on the person and his/her morals rather than a silly uniform. I was actually speaking to a older lady the other day, she stated that every Officer has to have a "Strong Moral Core" to avoid getting into the greed, and corruption that often gets thrown onto Officers. It's up to the person to either decide whether they'll succumb, or dispel the corruption that other people want them to get into for their own personal gain. Any who that is my personal/humble view of Police/Officers.
