Just how difficult is it?

Featured Replies

So. I'm thinking of purchasing this van to convert. It's $118.30 or £97.24 from Turbosquid.

Exactly how difficult is it to convert it to GTA V for a first timer?

I just want to make sure I'm not going to waste time or money, if it's going to be too much of a pain in the ass

I will also release it as a DEV resource part.

Here is a tip. Before you buy it, start with a free model available somewhere. Either from a 3d website or an old DSF model. You'll see pretty quickly if you're able to convert a model to Gta V. I wouldn't spent the money without any experience.

You're one of the best around along with a long list of others  on this site.

You Almost Got Away With It.

I've been playing with some free stuff. But I'm just curious as to how hard it is to get doors, bonnet and boot and things like that to function properly. I'm not too bad with adding materials, mapping parts and creating template. I just don't want to upload a pile of shite dev version

That's a good start. Getting the doors and such to work is pretty easy actually, collisions and IDs shouldn't be an issue either. The hardest part for you is probably the LOD

Yeah, I've always had a problem with LODs. I usually just copy the 1st version 3 times

I'll have to figure out how to poly crunch as well. That van is something like 109,000 polys and 121,000 Vertices

That's a no-go for the DEV section.

No, you don't have to. 109.000 polys is ok.

I've just downloaded an AMG C63, so I'll have a go at that and see what happens

UPDATE!! I bit the bullet and bought the van. ( I had more spare cash than I thought ) aaaand my computer died so I lost everything anyway 🤣🤣

I was basing it around the Speedo as it's a similar vehicle. As soon as I get a new computer, I'll have to start again.

That sucks. But it's nice to hear you're taking the challenge! Let me know if you need any assistance at one point. I'll gladly help you

The van wasn't the only thing I bought 😉

I've also picked up some wheels and other little background accessories

The Taurus is first under the chopping block.

The new computer arrived last week. So I've been working on this since then. It will be a police version only for now.

Got the carpets and seats done.

Not going to bother putting up a W.I.P thread because I'll probably forget to take pictures anyway.

Congratulations brother!!😁

It is so awesome to see you back at it again my friend.😁

Cheers bud. It was a long few weeks without a computer. And a massive pain in the ass to re download all my dev stuff again. I still haven't finished it all yet, I keep remembering various things I had.
