The Peelian Way

Interactions Sim with Role-Play Elements

Be Advised: Steep Learning Curve (Intended as a gameified training/quasi-academic resource for aspiring officers and first-contact social workers)

*Very in-depth, unconventional, greatly involved and methodical-- will slow down all interactions significantly and add tangible weight to every micro-decision*

Dedicated to my beloved Miss Bell

“The police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”

Sir Robert Peel;

founder of the Metropolitan Police Service

LSPD-focused 'CustomQuestions' and 'TrafficStopQuestions' XMLs with an emphasis on public engagement— informed by real world neighbourhood/problem-orientated policing knowledge and experience with an evidence-based approach.

Key Features

. Complex interconnected meta systems with conduct feedback loops

. Reputational standing/community relations

. Emergent gameplay opportunities (STP/PR scenarios)

. Numerous bespoke categories (Domestics, searches, and so on) *on-foot and traffic context specific*

. Ped demands, requests, questions, engagement blockers, intel and conditionals

. Ped personas (with complete backgrounds, housing situation, occupation, love life/marital status, activity *i.e going to work, etc.*, hobbies/ventures, societal participation, outlooks on things, perception of/history with police, quirks... so forth, and dynamic states of emotion, varying levels of awareness and potential vulnerabilities)

. Suspect misbehaviour (Detained, arrested, while secured in vehicle)

. Mental state/intoxication/perception  behaviour modifiers

. Player consequence (with lots of checks)

. De-escalation tactics,  mutual cooperation, and non-contact conflict management *up to two persons*

. Informal chatter and Player comments/insults

. Ped anti-social behaviour

. Public engagement

. Vulnerable person safeguarding measures, rapport building avenues and referrals

. Robust open-ended investigation/inquiry

. Basic medical/intoxication assessments

. A suite of verbal commands *On-foot and traffic context specific*

. Approach procedurals with impact on interactions (micromanagement of Player character factoring addressing/tone of voice/vocal level/positioning/intimidation)

. Ped agitation/concern/wariness (e.g. Player standing too close, etc.)

. Partner/buddy dialogue and support options

. Advanced observation system (contextual/general/eye contact/body language/proximity/behaviour/movements)

. Extensive Player actions and hands-on tactics/suspect management  *on-foot and traffic context specific*

Thousands upon thousands of lines, descriptors, observations, etc. (just squint while scrolling XMLs if you're curious-- don't spoil things for yourself!)-- largest, and most ambitious STP/PR project undertaking.

Conceptualised and authored strictly by myself (excluding legacy stuff).

must-have; very proud of this (2 years of hard work). Handsome one/top dog on site, straight up.

The Peelian standard.

Please note that certain responses are meta given limitation, and interchangeable (i.e. '*___ language*')-- should circumstance dictate.

CONTENT WARNING: Some users may find certain dialogue options/responses upsetting and/or distasteful as this XML aims for realism, and explores sensitive topics

Screenshots outdated.

year or so old!

BONUS

Personal Vanilla-Cop Spawning Configs (LSPDFR&UB), both Mixed & Male Only with randomized props/patches/hair

Also includes:

Revised 's_m_y_cop_01' (vanilla toolbelt w/nightstick, colourized badge and no hat)

Revised 'Beta Cop' by Yard1 (vanilla toolbelt w/nightstick, colourized badge and no hat)

Revised 'Improved Female LSPD' by Olanov (with male animationset *enter vehicles faster like male peds, but please note—peds will have male pain/exertion vocalisations* and no hat)

CopHolster Supported

And Alternate Walkstyle

'Ambient Vanilla Chatter' *AmbientDispatch released*

A personal collection of police scanner audio files (including Story Mode sequences) captured in-game for any playback script/plugin or third-party app.

Recommend creating a ‘Groove Music/Windows Media Player’ shuffled-playlist (setting volume to 13) and disabling emergency vehicle scanner game-script, for best experience.

Sourced from Nooby Chris' series of YouTube videos   *Ripped sound files have been broken up and randomized in sequencing by myself*

'Agitation Fix' for LSPDFR

Personally curated meta enabling NPC agitation triggers for Player beyond Story Characters *values have been altered for a more realistic experience--- only gang members will be aggroed by Player's proximity when stationary*

Great for emergent gameplay/interactions when out on patrol.

As a suggestion, you should add a brief explanation on your new additions. Like the Desistance, Provisions, and your Dialogue checks. It will help intorduce the newly added options

Any chance you're adding traffic stop questions? Love your normal questions and traffic stop questions would definitely complete this

Is anyone able to elaborate a bit on how exactly this works? I've been trying it for a few days now, and it adds a lot of questions that I wish I could ask to the game, though it's easy to get lost in all the menus, and lines that read things like:

"Failed State Check: (Reason)"

"Please... | Debuff Modifier"

" x    Deameanor | Perception Modifier"

Are difficult to understand how they're supposed to function, and the mod page doesn't provide any insight.

Hey,

Apologies for the confusion, I should really explain things. The various systems are designed to feed into each other.

—‘Fail-state checks’ are intended to incentivize positive interactions—‘following the book’ as it were—by meeting specific expectations (e.g. informing body-cam is on as soon as possible). Failure to do so before selecting certain dialogue options, particularly orders/instructions, may result in belligerence.

—.’(P)lease (General-use/DEBUFF)’ couches language (notice some dialogue options feature brackets— “Please leave the area/premises” instead of “I require you to leave the area/premises immediately ”), acting as a potential workaround for subjects who don’t respect your authority.

— ‘Demeanour/Public Perception Modifier’ reflects ‘SUBJECT STATE’ category information regarding a subject’s outward-showing behaviour/perception of the LSPD. Any negativity (more or less open to interpretation, but generally anything yellow/red) in these two respects, require the Player to select said modifier before proceeding, if possible, with certain dialogue options (highlighted in yellow or marked with purple dashes).

Hope this helped. Feel free to DM, should you have further questions.

All the best.

Hello there

Thank you for your interest and suggestion.

Alas; I unfortunately lack any real

experience to tap into, nor am I terribly familiar with this particular field in the general sense.

Frontline/community policing is very much the theme I’m going with.

That being said, I like to keep an open mind about things and strive to broaden my horizons so it might be something to consider for the future.

Kind regards

I think you should really remove the things of "Threat of sucide", "Pull out a gun" and deamenor thing Etc... I find it very unrealistic and confusing in my opinion.

I'm trying to get into this mod, but honestly it's so confusing I have zero clue what I'm doing. A quick example is trying to tell them the reason I pulled them over (speeding). So it then says "Use Moving Violation Menu". So I do, then I go back and it just repeats that.... What!? "My colleague will speak with you" only ever returns a "..." response. Actually, 80% of the things I choose simply return a "..." response or tell me there's some sort of issue. I honestly feel like I need a Video Tutorial on what step to ask things, because I'm apparently doing it all out of order I guess lol. None of this makes any sense to me so I had to uninstall for now. But I'm hopeful for the future of this!

Hey,

Thank you for your comment. I appreciate your affinity for the project and effort made trying it out despite it’s many complexities.

The “…” responses is actually the Player character speaking — orange representing the Player and certain menu items coloured as such being direct speech. Particular emphasis on the inconsequential goes a long way in enriching the overall experience and grounds you in the world as the Player character. Some of these can be chalked up to time-constraints, naturally, but I find it’s not always entirely necessary to have responses and their inclusion does create a sense of agency for the Player as well as work to facilitate a means to convey things beyond what’s presented.

Imagination is key (I’m trying to capture that sense of play—  almost like a child in a sandbox). Think of it as a tabletop sim, which was the design philosophy.

Yeah, advisory stuff is legacy infrastructure from ‘Ultimate Questions for STP’ which don’t necessarily reflect my own sensibilities or really interface with my body of work. You can largely ignore all that.

Feel free to experiment with your approach and establish a flow to things for yourself; it’s very much a learning process with a lot of trial-and-error for training Officers.

All the best and hope to have you back soon.
