The successor to Free My Controller

This mod is no longer supported on a regular basis. I may, from time to time, complete custom sets requested from the request board. I can't promise it will be done right away, if at all.

How to Install:

In OpenIV, travel to 'update > update.rpf > common > data > control'

Then copy/paste the files from the provided .rar

Specialty Addons:

These addons are files that can be added on to any set. Make sure to install these files after installing the desired set. Simply install into the same location as the set. The options include

Remove Cover [LB,RB,X,RT]

Remove Handbrake [A]

Remove Handbrake [RB]

Remove Handbrake & Duck [A+RB]

Remove Jump [X,A]

Remove Stealth Mode [LS&A]

Remove Vehicle Duck [A&RB]

This modification may be incompatible with other modifications that use controller bindings. (ELS being one of them)

Unfortunately, some (if not all) sets may remove the ability to scroll up in a menu using DpadUp.

Changing weapons in your vehicle using TAB or the scroll wheel will crash your game if you're using a set that removes weapon select.

This can be fixed by removing or changing the key bindings in the game settings

I recommend using Xpadder or Controller Companion to fix any issues regarding controller bindings

Any idea why as of the latest update, using any of these sets causes my game to crash when I get into a vehicle? I don't get a crash when using Free My Controller, but I prefer this set (#5) to remove the expanding mini map.

There seems to be a lot of glitches with my modification lately. However, I'm currently not able to fix any of the issues atm. I won't be modding again until September. Sorry for the inconvenience

No worries! I switched to set 4 I think and it seemed to fix the issue when used with Free My Controller. This is an awesome mod, I appreciate all the work you've put into it!!

Hey BTW i dont know if this only happens to me but when I used Set #5 settings, it caused my game to crash whenever I got in a vehicle. I dont see how the settings and the reason for crash are related but I did confirm that the settings are making my game crash. Im trying to find the specific reason for crash now.

Edit: Just tried Set #16, game doesnt crash. Im assuming it is a file in Set #5 thats not in Set #16 that is causing the crash, not sure which specific one.

Hello, I'm using setup 9 and every time I get into a vehicle my game crashes. I haven't tried other setups yet but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking at other comments it appears 5 and 9 crash the game when getting into a vehicle.

I tried finding a control scheme that disables the expanding minimap on RB, but the ones that disable the minimap do not work for me, unfortunately. Suggestions?

So I currently use LSPDFR with LSPDFR+, Arrest Manager, Police Smart Radio, Assorted Callouts and ELS. I have a ton of issues with buttons on my Xbox one controller. Was seeing if your current releases take care of those mods since they seem to but used by most people in conjunction with albo and his awesome plugins and scripts. Let me know and I'm will to donate for your time!

really like the concept of this mod. I installed button change #29, and I like everything on it except the cinematic while in car (the one where you press B in a car) I use B to hold down the siren while driving for short blips. Is there any way to get this exact button change but without getting rid of B? thank you :)

Hey, thanks for this. I'm using the main keybinds from the 'Free my controller' files, along with yours for removing cover... there is one thing which appears to be unable to be changed, and that is RB on the Xbox 360 controller. It appears that holding it down seems to act as a modifier for then pressing either LB or A to activate 'recording'...

I'm using both the above and some extra keys via xpadder, and my RB is currently one press for cover (manually) and then a hold down for CapsLock which enables the holding of the holster. However when I hold it down, no matter what I bind to the RB, it seems to then enable me to record by pressing LB and A..

I've looked in the files to attempt to remove anything that references RB/R1 but I don't really know what I'm doing...

The only mods I have installed are LSPDFR+, arrest manager, traffic policer.

My question is: Is there a way to totally deactivate the RB of my controller from ever doing anything in relation to GTa5, so I can properly bind it without it suddenly making me record stuff when I press other buttons? It's very distracted and it prevents my character from being able to run..

Are your referring to A and B on the controller that activate the recording function for the rockstar editor? If that's the case, then unfortunately I haven't figured out a fix yet.

I seriously can't thank you enough @Narobic! Lol I'm sitting here giggling with joy because of this set! 😄

Added set #34 which removes:

Phone Up (on foot)
Select Weapon (in vehicle)
[LB] Aim (in vehicle)
Change Camera View (in vehicle/on foot)
Interaction Menu (in vehicle/on foot)
Pause Menu (in vehicle/on foot)

The set works perfectly!! I seriously appreciate your work! Have a great week bro!
