Custom Visuals v.3.5.0 by Techengage

OVER 18K DOWNLOADS! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT, FOLKS!

Custom Visuals is a partial graphics overhaul that makes your game look much more realistic; from police lights to clouds! This Mod increases the ambience of all lighting in the game, makes rain, cloud movement, shadows, and sunlight more realistic, makes motion blur more tolerable, and makes coronas more vibrant and lifelike. This Mod also adds environmental lighting to vehicles, especially emergency lights. You also now have the option to have all blue, all red, and all amber lighting! There are many more things to list, but I just recommend trying it out. After all, it's only two files, not twenty.

This Pack includes two Visualsettings.dat versions, two Carcols.ymt, and a All Blue Lights Template Library. Below is an explanation of each.

Bright makes slight changes to the original game settings, while allowing full use of all police sirens. Use this if Brighter is too much.

Brighter is a complete rework of the original game settings, revamping everything from emergency lights to clouds.

Carcols.ymt is necessary to give vehicle environmental effects and allows you to change light color. One gives fast ELS-style lighting, the other is normal light pattern speeds.

Blue Light Templates is an enormous library of blue/blue lighting templates needed to make vehicle lights blue. Any requests to add to this collection will be granted in a reasonable time period.

BEFORE INSTALLING, MAKE SURE TO CREATE BACK UP FILES. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRUPT SAVES/FILES. THANK YOU!

PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME HOW TO INSTALL THESE FILES BEYOND THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. YOUTUBE & GOOGLE ARE GREAT!

IF YOUR LIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT OR ARE WHITE ONLY, MAKE SURE YOUR SHADER QUALITY & POST FX ARE AT LEAST ON HIGH!!

INSTALLATION:

Use Open IV to drop either of the visualsettings.dat files into Mods>Update>Update.rpf>Common>Data

Use Open IV to drop the carcols.ymt file into Mods>Update>Update.rpf>x64>Data

Add the lines in "ADD THESE LINES TO CARVARIATIONS.TXT" to your carvariations.meta (I recommend mpvalentines2, it works for every model). Make sure to change the vehicle name and the sirensettings="" to the corresponding number (14 for all blue fast, 15 for all red, etc)

IF YOU WANT ALL AMBER / ALL RED / ALL BLUE / ALL BLAHBLAHBLAH ENVIRONMENTAL LIGHTING/CORONAS (Must have carcols.ymt installed):

  • All Amber Lighting: Change your vehicles sirensettings to 17 for LEDs, or 9 for rotary strobes. (Rockstar doesn't support amber LED reflections)
  • All Red Lighting: Change your vehicles sirensettings to 15. Recommended for police add-ons used as fire rescue vehicles.
  • All Blue Lighting (Fast Patterns): Change Sirensettings to 14. Then use the blue light templates to replace files within the .ytd file of any car you want with blue lights only.
  • All Blue Lighting (Fast Patterns, alternate sequences): Change Sirensettings to 20. Lighting has different sequences compared to 14.
  • All Blue Lighting (Slow Patterns): Change Sirensettings to 16. Exactly like 14, but with slower light patterns.
  • Blue & Red Lighting (Fast Patterns): Change Sirensettings to 1.
  • Blue & Red Lighting (Slow Patterns): Change Sirensettings to 19.
  • Blue/Blue Highway Patrol Lighting (Rotary+LEDs): Change Sirensettings to 18, used to give F5544's Highway Patrol pack blue/blue lighting. Can be used with similiar models.
  • Blue/Blue Lighting for Desmond98's LAPD FPIU v.0.7.5: Change Sirensetting to 21. Full credits to @CiscoFanboy for creating this specialized carcols.ymt code line for Desmond98's FPIU. This is absolutely necessary if you want the lighting to work on his newest update! Templates are still the same as previous versions.

TO FIX TAXI & TRAM SIGN ISSUES, PLEASE VIEW README IN "TAXI & TRAM SIGN FIX" FOLDER.

Headlight fade refers to the headlights not showing up at far distances. They would look like they were off at night. Now when you say the lighting is too white, do you mean the police lights? If that is your issue, please read the red text in the Mod description. Otherwise, the problem is with your add-on vehicle. If you think it will help, send me a screenshot of the issue you are referring to because I'm a little confused by what you need.

OK this is screenshots that i took with your mod.

Those with strong white at POST FX on "VERY HIGH/ULTRA".
And those with normal lighting its when the POST FX ON "NORMAL"
The problem that when downloading to POST FX to NORMAL lighting at the lights of the police cars themselves simply too weak ...

i tried also  Shader Quality on HIGH / VERY HIGH / NORMAL - same problem as the  Post FX on HIGH / VERY HIGH its too strong & on NORMAL the police cars siren is too weak.

(i have a great graphics card GTX1080 G1, so that's NOT the problem)

@bony,

So basically the lights are too dim on Normal, but too bright on High/Very High/Ultra.

Sadly, no matter what I do, you have to have your settings on High or above for the lights to work. That's just an issue with most models, especially those with coronas removed.

But this should help make them a little less intense. Let me know if it works.

still to strong & you can see the problem is not in a Specific car...

Even the taxi for example, the light becomes too strong.
I'm not sure that someone can solve this problem ...
This problem exists in all the MODs that increase the lighting. If you solve this problem you are king!

thank you for the quick reply! And your help

I guess I'll uncheck the taxi light issue, haha. I'm working on fixing all of these over-intensity problems; it'll just take time. It's hard to do on low-end graphics, but I'll get there and I'll keep everyone updated as a progress. Thanks for downloading and pointing issues out!

To remove the overbrightness from headlights and interior and such, you have to lower the number  on   Car.default.day and Car.default.night  to  0,  but sadly this will also make the police lights very low/dim..   it's either the police lights or the overglow on vehicles you have to sacrifice..  sadly i dont know other solutions as of now.

@Jaso87 and @bony,

Brightness issues with vehicle lights have been fixed with the "Bright" version of Custom Visuals, released in version 1.2.40. I've also released a fix for taxi sign intensity.

ELS will still appear bright. Please let me know if they appear too bright at night, and I will be sure to work on it. Let me also know if anything else is wrong or too bright/not bright enough (as long as it's not already listed on the known bugs/issues, please).

I plan to edit this Mod until we all have the perfect ambience we want, so keep me updated on problems, ya'll!

Thanks,

Jon

Hello, I'm not exactly sure where each image file go?

the instructions make it unclear.

Installation:

BEFORE INSTALLING, MAKE SURE TO CREATE BACK UP VEHICLE MODEL AND .META FILES. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRUPT GAMES/SAVES/FILES. THANK YOU!

CORRUPT GAMES/SAVES/FILES. THANK YOU!

IF YOUR LIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT OR SHOWING AS WHITE ONLY, MAKE SURE YOUR SHADER QUALITY AND POST FX ARE AT LEAST ON HIGH!! Please report issues otherwise.

Use Open IV to drop either of the visualsettings.meta files into Mods>Update>Update.rpf>Common>Data

For the blue light templates, simply replace them within the .ytd file of any car you want with blue lights only. I don't have templates for every car, so kindly let me know (with screenshots) which ones I am missing so I can create/locate them to add to future updates.

TO FIX TAXI SIGN ISSUES, PLEASE VIEW README IN "TAXI SIGN FIX" FOLDER.

My 3 main questions are...

  1. We can only use one of the .meta files or is one one the same as the other but brighter?
  2. When you say to view the ytd files and replace the textures. I don't see cars that match the names of the texrures inside Mods>Update>Update.rpf>Common>Data
  3. Will you make a ovi installer at a later date?

I'm sorry if these questions are stupid and hope you can be patient with me. No hard feelings if you don't want to help.

Have a wonderful day and great job with the mod.

1. Yes. Use one. One is bright. One is brighter. One is brighter with blue police lights.

2. The instructions are very clear. The visualsettings.meta goes in the Mods>Update>Update.rpf>Common>Data folder. The vehicle .ytd you are looking for is called taxi.ytd and is located in the Mods>X64e.rpf >Levels>GtaV >Vehicles.rpf folder. I'm about to go on vacation, so please excuse me if I come off as short; but I recommend researching how to change vehicle skins, edit .metas, and just overall how to mod GTA V. It seems you are a little inexperienced and you're getting into territory that sorta requires it with this Mod.

3. Absolutely not, sorry. I hate .ovi's.

Thank you very much for the praise, also. I worked very hard on it and I hope it works for ya'll as well as it does for me. Remember to report bugs once you get it working.

@Techengage Hello, I've just tried your custom visuals and I would like to provide feedback.

The feedback concerns car headlights appearing too bright. This has been something which I have been trying to fix for a VERY long time, but to no avail.  I did however find a fix by lowering the numbers under the emissive bits line, but that resulted in the police lights to become very dim. Now you claim that you have fixed this issue though after using your mod, the car headlights still are too bright as you can see from the screenshot below.  Anyways man, I do hope that you can look into this further. Thank you.

Hey, Abz. Thank you for letting me know. The emissive bits lines are the most commonly edited spot, but as you saw, they effect every light involved in their definitions. I have a few other lines of code I will work on after I am back from vacation on Tuesday to directly affect headlights only. Thank for also pointing out time and weather conditions, too. Also, are the headlights the only lights you find too bright? What about the taillights, brake lights, or indicators? I must ask though; are you using Bright or Brighter settings? I ask because I have only found a headlight fix for a Bright setting as of right now. Thanks again and check back or follow this page for updates.

@Techengage Hello, thanks for the reply. Yes, the headlights are the only ones which are very bright. The taillights and brake lights are fine. Also, I am using the 'Bright' setting. Thanks.

Does this also help frame rates at all?

Hey, Steve. These settings are not meant to help with fps for low-end computers, but this Mod should not affect your fps at all. If it does, I would imagine the difference is minuscule.

As I stated in the description, the Bright setting involved me making evasive changes to the original game settings, therefore performance should not be affected in order to provide you with better lighting. If you are using a computer under the recommended specs, try that setting first.

Hello, friends! Sorry for the constant updates over the past few days, but I am back from vacation and decided I want this mod finished. I have fixed every problem I know of as of right now. Please, please, please let me know via private message if you are experiencing any bugs or issues after installing Version 1.3.20.

Also, if you are using the BL Mod, please let me know if you are having problems making your car lights all blue or if you cannot figure out how to work it in with thegreathah's EEL. It's not too hard, I promise.

Thank you for the support and I hope ya'll enjoy the new version!

Do you have png files for BxBugs123's vehicles to make the lights blue? I don't see any that match exactly in the Blue Light Templates folder.

If not, I can make my own, but just wondering if you had them to save time.

I'd check your browser, winrar, and computer. Mine is fine, and I just re-downloaded the Mod to make sure. Perfect.

No one else has mentioned this, either. Good luck, brother. I hope you can get it to work!

Hi Techengage, there was some kind of problem, probably this crappy Tunisian internet I am about finished with. But I have five different files, including yours four times, that downloaded 0 bytes, odd deal, but wasn't your issue, my apologies.
