Realistic Radiance 1.0.1

(17 reviews)

5 Screenshots

Realistic Radiance

Just a simple edit to Radiance V to make the lights less intense for those who don't know how to edit visualsettings.dat
This should help content creators with viewers complaining about bright lights especially at night.  This simple code edit gives the same feel of the original Radiance V but without the overpowering blur especially when recording.

This is my personal opinion of what a light bar would look like during different times of day.

Installation.

In OpenIV navigate to mods/update/update.rpf/common/data

Drop the visualsettings.dat into this folder.

  • Other misc lighting adjustments

Have you edited any other values than car.defaultlight.day.emissive.on and car.defaultlight.night.emissive.on? I'm asking because i use Radiance together with VisualV. Thanks.

Yes.  There are other values that needed to be changed to reduce the amount of emitted light during the day and night.  If you open visualsettings.Dat in an editor hit control F and search for extra.  Should pull up most of the settings that were edited.  Hope this helps

Having compared your file and Bxbugs Radiance V 1.6 Bright version, I've found no other changes than two mentioned above (350>100 and 120>30). Just saying.

Wait, what stuff did you actually have to change in the visualsettings anyways? I too use visualv but I could never try out these radiance mods because I was never sure what values were changed.

As stated in the description above and the read me this is a simple code edit.  Just to help those who don't know how to change the lighting.  Makes it an easy drop in file.  This is something that I wanted for my game and I figured I would share it

Short question: How did you made your lights all blue?

It's part of the vehicle skins.  Gives files for making lights blue

Take VisualV visualsettings.dat and replace the following parts with parts from Radiance V visualsettings.dat:

# emissive bits (line 448-481 in VisualV v.1.0.230)

misc.coronas.sizeScaleGlobal (line 833 in VisualV v.1.0.230)

Than you can change the following lines with values from this mod:

car.defaultlight.day.emissive.on (line 465 in VisualV v.1.0.230) 350.00>100.00

car.defaultlight.night.emissive.on (line 466 in VisualV v.1.0.230) 120.00>30.00

car.defaultlight.day.emissive.on 115

car.defaultlight.night.emissive.on 36

for some reason my FBI2 LEDS all turn almost pure white when running this. any idea what i need to tweak to fix it? Every other car looks great except for that one :P

Sorry for the terrible quality, and the picture doesn't really do it justice, but the yellow lights on some modded police cars are extremely overwhelming. Anyway you could edit those to make them less bright? Other than that, great mod!

Hi qfmarine, the red on the flashing sirens in the distance is also very bright unlike the blue which is looking ok. Just to let you know.

Many thanks

Most likely as it's just a very simple edit of two lines of code to make them less bright (regular police lights).

Hey men, your mod seems to be lovely but i'm actually using ECED mod (brighter Corona) and your mod would remove this visualsettings.dat. It would be cool to make a comba pack combining both your mods or simply add a manually modifying in your readme. Thanks !

Edit : ECED seems to actually fuck up my car lights, i'm going to try yours.
