Federal Signal Unitrol 480K siren
bnsfdash9 sorry for the delay in response, I was without any of my original mod files. I will be releasing an updated version where I can do that, with the advent of ELS V7 I no longer need to have Yelp in the primary slot. I did do it for a reason, and that is to get the effect I did with the Wail, which has to be placed in the POLICE_WARNING slot within the IVAUD. That said, with ELS V7 and a slight modification to the audio quality I'm able to add the Wail tone back in it's original slot, with yelp where it's supposed to be, and a second Wail tone in the POLICE WARNING slot so as to keep the effect of catching the Wail tone mid-cycle.

GTA Policing Tools
So I have a legit copy of the game(Two, in fact. An extra purchased after I misplaced the first DVD and didn't have the patience to find it) but I bypass SecuROM. I do so because first of all, SecuROM is IMO far too invasive, secondly after upgrading my video card I do not have an extra power cable to run from my PSU to the drive so it's out of service. So because of this the game thinks I have a pirated copy. Now, I support anti-piracy measures when you're looking out for your own product, IP claims are legitimate and the right of the creator. However, I think that it's going a bit too far when you create a mod with anti-piracy features built in, especially for a six year old game. Sure you're going to keep a few losers who won't support game developers from using it, but you're also going to prevent some people who actually have legal licenses to the game from using it, simply because they choose to modify the software they use on their own computer, not completely dissimilar to you, modifying the game to suit your needs and add to your experience. It's my opinion that these matters should be left to the original game developers and in this case, especially with the way you feel about their PC port, I'd think you'd understand people modifying the game to give a little added stability. R* has gone as far as they care to in order to protect their IP, who are we to say it's not enough? You always have created quality mods Sniper and I'm sure that this is no different, but I have no way of knowing. I have to say, however, I'm very disappointed with the route you chose to go. If in the future you release an update without such invasive anti-piracy protections I'd be glad to use and most likely endorse what is likely, a high quality mod. It would be much appreciated, but right now it is what it is. Regards,

ELS7 Issue with Xbox Controller
It's not only not meant to work with a controller but ELS V7 does not use the GTA IV horn function at all, which is why when pressing the GTA native horn button it will cycle one of the siren sounds and play the horn at the same time. You have to use the ELS keys to control the siren/horn otherwise it will do what you describe.

SA WAV Files to IV
If you want to import SA's engine sounds into IV you'll need at least a decent audio editing program, like Audacity(Free and open source) and then you'll have to try and match the engine mappings of IV by splitting them up into the corresponding WAV files to be imported into the IVAUD

This would work, but it would take some time it seems before everyone agrees on the 10 codes. I'd just suggest having everyone use plain language, as a large number of agencies have recently made this move away from 10 codes, starting with FEMA's suggestion to have everyone use plain language during multiple jursidiction and multiple agency collaboration, such as during emergencies or natural disasters. It would actually be funny if MDC adopted plain language because it'd be following the suggestion of FEMA, seeing as how everyone almost is from a different, albeit fictional, department.

This is how it appears. I went through a good 20-30 names before finding one person I could use who wasn't in custody last night, and there were two people in game I was arresting so I just said forget it for the second person. Looks like we'll just have to wait for Braveheart to get back though, it won't stop me from enjoying MDC, especially with the Radio feature now :)

Well, I just spent the past hour using my laptop for the MDC and has Flux dispatching calls and I'd just like to take the time to thank Flux. Great RP experience and on the last call, as I was dispatched to an assault at Globe Oil tudor, LCPDFR generated a DV call at the same location with the suspect having the same description as that given by Flux - perfect timing! The new Radio feature with dispatch works great, and it's nice not having to enter in manually all the information into Add Actions Taken, being able to have the dispatcher do that via radio transmissions. One thing which is still bothering me is the frequency of Persons Generated that are incarcerated, it takes me about 3-5 mins to find a person who is not in custody before I'm able to find someone usable for a suspect, driver or victim. Also, it would be nice if under Generate Persons it would show the custody status, perhaps have a button that would take us automatically to their entry in the Database, this is why it takes so long to find someone because not only are most people in custody, but it takes a lot of extra time to have to go back and forth between pages from Generating Persons to Persons Check Other than that, keep up the good work guys and again, Thanks Flux!

Yes but if you think about all the previous GTA releases since GTA III, first release has been on the console and it has generally been about a year until the PC version is released and another solid year until the mod community has matured enough to release high quality mods. I think while we'll play GTA V when it's released, LCPDFR will be played for a while to come

Federal Signal Unitrol 480K siren
I'll work on getting it louder and release another version if I can increase the volume without substantially decreasing the quality. Thanks! And the only way to increase the volume is to edit the HORNS.ivaud wav files, which is strictly forbidden and if you modify my file you will find a team of men kicking down your door, confiscating your computer and we'll get your dog too. (I kid I kid, feel free to modify and use as you see fit, if you release it give credit where it's due)

Galls street thunder
Also just looking at the size of the file I can tell there will be serious issues with the siren other than just what we hear in the video, GTA IV struggles with HORNS.ivaud files generally above 1mb

Galls street thunder
This is good for the first siren you've made but not so good to release. The first few of whatever mods you do should really be kept to yourself until you've gotten the hang of what to do when editing these mods. The general idea to looping is to have the start and end points match up obviously, but zoom in almost as close as you can on the waveforms to make sure you're starting and ending the waveforms in the proper place in the loop. I like to find the lowest point on the start/end points of the loop and use that part of the waveform to start and stop the loop. Perhaps I'll put up a tutorial with pictures when I've finished up the skins I'm working on

Mobile Data Terminal Alert Tones
This mod is only the alert tones, what you hear is the scanner running in the background on the video. Check out www.radioreference.com for an online scanner

Oh when I say I raised Su and Sl I meant that I lowered it. I'm going to try it with the original height of Kanyo's line and see if just softening the suspension worked. It's sitting a little low, because thats how I had the line before thinking that was the issue.

Sgt.Kanyo's handling mods
Yeah thats the problem! Damn it. I got it it to be a little less bouncy by playing with Su Sl Sr and the Z axis, I'll try it out with the softer suspension settings Edit, seemed to fix it, I also raised the Su Sl and Sr lines with it. Thanks for the help Kanyo

Sgt.Kanyo's handling mods
Hey Kanyo would you be able to do anything about the suspension on this vehicle? That'd be awesome if you could, or perhaps explain what settings are causing this behavior?

Odd Car Model Problem, Could Use Some Help
Did you import the file as a PNG instead of DDS? Edit: Looks like it has to do with the way the model's textures have been mapped. Take a look at TBR_BodyReflection. This combined with paintjob.DDS.png is what's screwing up the metallic parts on the body. Apparently the idiot who converted this vehicle mapped paintjob.DDS.png to the ENTIRE model, instead of just the body of it. You could attempt to correct TBR_BodyReflection or you could try and figure out what parts of paintjob.DDS.png are mapped to the metallic body parts. Either way it will be a pain in the ass, as the author of this file screwed up big time. TL;DR, cut your losses and wait for a proper unmarked version of this vehicle. Sorry bud.

Sgt.Kanyo's handling mods
What do you mean? If that handling line wasn't made for that specific model I don't know which one it was made for as it's different from all of Kanyo's other Tahoe handling lines. That model needs a specific handling line for it to work properly

Odd Car Model Problem, Could Use Some Help
It really doesn't sound like a carcols issue, sounds like a spec map texture was replaced, if that's possible

Sgt.Kanyo's handling mods
Hey Sgt.Kanyo, could you go over your handling line for Cj24's LCPD 1.5AC Tahoe? I really enjoy the model but the handling line provided with it has major suspension issues. Any bump in the road will cause it to bounce violently and if you hit a bump while making a turn its prone to tip over. I was able to tone it down only slightly by playing with the upper/lower suspension limits and suspensionraise, but not enough to make it usable. Here's the model, Thanks!

Mobile Data Terminal Alert Tones
Gotcha. That sounds more like a dispatcher tone used over the air, rather than an actual MDT tone. The Portland Bureau of Emergency Communication uses that same tone for, I believe hold up alerts. I've updated the mod, the tone in the youtube video of the ride along I posted is now the tone that is played when you accept a call. Also, if I could safely alt-tab from my game I would have turned off the scanner before recording, but it's still pretty clear and also gives you an idea of how the MDT would sound in the background with siren, engine noise and a scanner running. A lot of people play with RadioReference running in the background. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Mobile Data Terminal Alert Tones
The tone used at 2:46, which I could edit to put in place for calculating route tone, is the one used by the Portland Police Bureau for call notification, as seen here Also, if you listen to the average police computer the tones I've decided to include are fairly close to what's used in real life. I'd be happy to tell you how to create your own IVAUD files if you have audio which you'd like to use, though. But now that I think of it, I think I will place the tone I recorded off the video and use it for the sound played when you're first dispatched, and put the tone currently used in that slot for the You have arrived slot. Thanks!
