  1. Drugs combined with an underlying mental issue. Probably crack or speed, and the taser elevated his heart rate to an extreme level..............flatline.
  2. We're ONE OF THE MORE powerful nations that exist. Since Obama has cut billions of dollars worth of military funding, we're severely reduced. But it goes hand in hand with what I was saying about how countries don't respect us. China, NK, and Russia keep building their armies and increase funding, and we're cutting ours. In a way, it's eerily similar to the giant fuck-up by the Euro countries right before WWII.
  3. Honestly, I haven't marched since Tech School. The AF has almost zero downtime like Army/Marine combat units. I was told by a buddy of mine in the Army, that they march only because there's nothing to do. Besides Army MPs and admin staff, they don't have a "job" like the majority of the AF (SF, mechanics, medical, admin, etc.). There "job" is a combat role. The 820th is usually almost always deployed in A-stan and perform outside-the-wire operations. For some reason they think that basic SF training qualifies us to supplement frontline Army/Marine units. The 820th has access to those training courses since it helps them and aids them in combat. But yes, the majority of the AF SF just want the bragging rights to say they are a 'ranger'. Although if I had the chance, I'd go through jump school just to say I got to parachute out of a plane. lol
  4. That's the word I was looking for! Tab! lol In the AF, mostly only SF will get the chance. Fort Benning has a small AF presence, so SF is there. A lot of SF guys have ranger tabs, jump wings, etc. There's even one guy I meant who went through BUD/s, although washed out (Not sure how he got that chance, thought it was only open to Navy). That's nothing. we have 3E4X3 (Pest Control).
  5. I do agree with you about that. That's what I was referring to when I said the petty problems that usually divide democrat and republican. However, Obama has straight up thrown the constitution in the garbage with healthcare, disregarding any and all immigration laws we've had set up (not to mention spend an exuberant amount of money on them), and castrated America. Countries used to respect us (not trying to sound like Uncle Sam). Now Putin has free reign in Europe, he flies nuclear bombers around our country, and takes jabs at the US every chance we get. In my opinion, I prefer our presidents have military experience (not W. Bush, he shirked his duties) since they know what it means to serve our country and are generally inclined to stand up for it. Presidents like Nixon and Kennedy stood up for our country and didn't let the US get disrespected. Just my personal opinion, however.
  6. In reality, this election was more motivated by some major issues, and not based on small problems we deal with on a regular basis. From where I lived, and where I am now, people seem to be motivated in attempting to fix what Obama's has done wrong. Healthcare and immigration being 2 major things that people are most sick of. There's a reason Obama's approval rating has gone down over the years. He's already vowed to scale back/hold off on his policies if the Rep. won this term. Right now, it's less democrat vs republican, and more "our country's in the shitter, let's fix it". While I don't condone this type of thinking, the general consensus of the US (at least where I used to live at, and where I am now) is Obama has caused problems that need to be fixed.
  7. I see your point, but 95% of the AF isn't SpecOps. The washout rate for those jobs are at above 95%. Plus I don't believe any role warrants more respect and tradition and overall badassery than having a Ranger Patch. Even I have much respect for those guys.
  8. This job is fucking boring as hell. The most fun you'll get is when you train, or unless you deploy. Still is a kickass job. Who else can say you're in the AF and have your Ranger Patch and jump wings? Highly recommend!
  9. Well it's ceremonial, not literal. It's like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It's tradition, ceremony, and respect, not actually "protecting" it, if that makes sense.
  10. How does Mexico know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he IS NOT an arms smuggler? Can you even say that? No, you cant, because only he knows the truth. With all the problems going on in Mexico right now with cartels, they aren't going to take kindly to an illegal immigrant coming across with weapons. And honestly, when you're on the border like that, you had better know where you are. And that's not ignorance of Mexico's laws. What he did is smuggle arms across. He fits the definition of that law to a T. Whether or not it was accidental, he broke a serious law.
  11. Then I suggest people don't try to take my opinion and state what they "think" I meant when it's wrong and they have no idea what they're talking about. I can simply say to you, that how many Mexicans DO face punishment and imprisonment? Just like how many Americans escape punishment and imprisonment? This topic is about the Marine, not about whether or not others are arrested. Unfortunately, that's not an accidental human mistake. Even to the US government, what he did is called weapons smuggling. When you cross into a country illegally with weapons, that's smuggling. And him telling the police that "he had no intention of coming to mexico" is the most pathetic excuse ever. Do you realize how many illegal immigrants get caught by CBP and probably use the excuse they didn't mean to cross into the US? Look at it from Mexico's side; They catch an american, driving down a road with weapons which illegally entered the country along with the american, and all he says is "I didn't meant to". You can't just say "Oh it's okay, you didn't do it", and let him go, and for a felony no less.
  12. We got a major badass here, folks! I'm back in this topic now, since people are gonna quote me behind my back and attack what I said and not have the balls to say it directly to me. All I meant when I said that, is the majority of the people in this topic that have contributed, are trying to get you to see the same thing I've been trying to do. This isn't a topic that's open to interpretation. He broke a written law, and was held within all legal bounds of the Mexican government. End of story. If you want to go off on another tangent specifically about corruption in Mexico, I highly suggest you make a new, separate topic.
  13. Glad she stood by her beliefs, even if it has cost us an activist. May she RIP, and in eternal relief of her battle.
  14. Those 2 crimes carry different statutes. Which is why they're heard in separate courts with separate rights. And I really can't say anything more to you. Everyone here is seeing it this way but you. They've done nothing wrong. You sound like a conspiracy nut right now by saying they did it because he's an american. You have no proof of that whatsoever. They followed protocol and did nothing wrong. They do imprison their own people, but you're just choosing to look at it from a subjective point of view. Corrupt or not, the handling of this Marine was by the book and legal by way of the Mexican government. End of story, I resign myself from this debate.
  15. Sorry, a typo. I meant 8 months. And the right to a fair and speedy trial IS NOT a basic human right according to the UN. Mexico did NOTHING wrong. We do it all the time to their drug smugglers. And illegal immigration is something entirely different. They're breaking an immigration law, not a criminal law, so to speak. The marine broke a criminal law, he was arrested, detained, and released. They DO NOT have to allow you bail/bond, they DO NOT have to release you within 24 hours, and since they have no "right" they DO NOT have to make your trial a fair and speedy one. I can talk to many Americans here and see how many of us get away with serious laws. It's all subjective. Mexicans are being imprisoned just like the Marine was. I don't understand what your beef with this article is. Mexico didn't do anything wrong. They DO NOT have to give you a fair and speedy trial as it IS NOT a basic human right. They can detain you for as long as they want to. "Do the crime, do the time"
  16. Hahaha, that's funny. An illegal mexican that commits a hit and run, is arrested, tried, and imprisoned in the US. US and Mexican relations are virtually non existent, so we don't help their citizens, they don't help ours, plain and simple. It's a federal law in Mexico, that you CANNOT POSSESS firearms. HE brought firearms, knowingly. They arrested him and detained him. There are no checks and balances like we have that prevent you from being detained for an extended period of time. When you travel to another country, you're expected to abide by there laws. There's no corruption that held him there for 8 months. That's just how there process works. There is corruption in Mexico, I agree with that, but not pertaining to this situation. He broke a law he should have known. People have become so brainwashed in the US that they think there rights carry over to other countries. It's not a basic human right, or god given right to NOT be detained for 8 years. This is the same mentality that causes everyone to hate US citizens; "Democracy is the best and the US CAN DO NO WRONG!".
  17. The US has a system of checks and balances to ensure things like this don't happen for a year. To ensure that you get a fair and speedy trial. Mexico has nothing that says that, so how can you argue corruption? You can't at all.. As far as cartels running around with guns, that is corruption but has nothing to do with this article as I've been saying. This marine, broke the law and suffered the consequences. You're arguing corruption solely based because they don't have a "BoR" like we do to ensure justice is swift and fair. Our system is far from correct and perfect but it works.
  18. Lolololololololz! Just be glad all you kids don't go to bed at 5 pm and get up and go to work at 1:30am. Enjoy your school!
  19. Too bad you don't actually know the definition between fact and opinion.
  20. False. That's their written law. No corruption there. Marine's fault.
  21. Never said they weren't corrupt.I said just because the way they handle their law and justice system doesn't make them corrupt. This whole topic of this thread has nothing to do with corruption. Well a cop extorting citizens has nothing to do with this discussion. And because the roads are designed badly, then that makes it his fault? That's horrible logic. Know the border, know the laws. It's completely his fault, intentional or not.
  22. Is this topic about the Marine arrested, or Mexican corruption? Nobody can say it's corruption if he's arrested, because it's their laws. It's the Marine's fault for carrying guns and not knowing the law. And it's their laws if you're immediately arrested and detained until otherwise proven innocence. And no doubt there is corruption, but corruption is unrelated to the topic title.
  23. Don't see any discussion here other than starting a flame war.... It's their law. How does that make them corrupt, or us better than them?
