No, it's not that. I can play for hours, now I can usually only play for 5-15 minutes at most.

My game will sometimes go for 5-10 minutes before crashing to desktop with "GTA IV has stopped working." I have a good PC and sometimes I can play for awhile without it crashing, it just depends. What is the brand of the power supply? If price isn't an object then I would upgrade your whole system, although you don't absolutely need to.

I know this is a pretty typical answer, but have you reinstalled the game yet? Also, do you have an anti-virus program on your PC?

I suggest opening it and looking to see if a cord or wire is hitting the fan while it's on. If not you may just want to buy a better fan.
