Featured Replies

Hi everyone here , this is some of my personal opinions and thoughts on US police ... I have not been to US /America before . And I have no actual /exact knowledge of how policing in US like ... What I learn and know of US police is by news and YouTube videos..

1) US police can shoot at you if you disobey their instructions . And you do not follow as what they instructed you to do ..

2)US police can beat /whack the "suspect " when theyresist arrested

3) US police officer are very rough..

4) US police will use manpowers to outnumber their suspects /  .. 10 police officer to catch /arrest one suspect  .

5. US police have many police power given to them

This is what I know of US police...

Can anyone tell me whether what I say are correct and accurate ???

As I have said , this is what I learn from YouTube videos and news ..

I have no intention to offended any police officer from US. No offences to anyone here.

Please go back to class.

Everything needs more lights.

1. Deadly force, also known as lethal force, is use of force that is likely to cause serious bodily injury or death to another person. In most jurisdictions, the use of deadly force is justified only under conditions of extreme necessity as a last resort, when all lesser means have failed or cannot reasonably be employed.

2. Using the back of your elbow or open hand to smack someone is commonly used when they're consistently resisting arrest as well as using your asp in certain situations, that's what it's for.

3. I don't know where you got that from but watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49b8EJFqqPQ

4. Not to sound rude but no shit sherlock. Depending on the offence being committed of course you want backup if you can get it.

5. They do indeed have many police powers.

In addition, why do you think police officers are so tense and always on the lookout. Last night an NYPD Officer got stabbed in the neck, the suspect grabbed his gun and shot two other officers.

I am a first responder in a diverse city who has seen all of this first-hand. The United States is a police state.

Police in the United States are, for the most part, completely unaccountable. Police unions have applied pressure to politicians who refuse to criticize or reform them, and prosecutors who need good relationships with police so they rarely prosecute accusations. It is lucky to have a cop fired, let alone charged and convicted. Officers who do face consequences are often times rehired by other departments. Police in the US are famous for brutality, acquisition (legalized theft) of private property, and proven racial disparity in terms of arrests, aggressive policing, use of force, and murder. Justification for police murder is often times based on vague things such as the fear of the officer. Civil rights and First Amendment violations are not terribly uncommon, and rarely have consequences. All of this is perpetuated by a for-profit prison industrial complex, military industrial complex that profits off of police militarization, and an inhumane war on drugs. Cities are spending millions (sometimes billions) of dollars on police budget inflation as social services suffer, with no proven impact on crime.

The protests/rioting you are seeing in the news are a result of ALL of this, in addition to socio-economic conditions created by decades of austerity and exacerbated by an inept response to coronavirus. Currently, we are seeing widespread and disturbing police brutality in every city across the country, with pretty much no signs of accountability. It is a massive escalation of state violence on peaceful protesters. Use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and physical violence is rampant.

Get triggered by this, I don't care. Needs to be heard. Won't be debating, it'll just get shut down anyway.

If you love your country, you must be willing to criticize it.

Given the current global crisis and the ongoing events in America that have sparked protesting and riots across the world I do not think this thread is any way even remotely appropriate.

I don't think it's acceptable, even in the forum section dedicated to this kind of discussion, to watch youtube videos/news articles and post a derogatory topic about what you think US police are "allowed" to do.

I'm closing this to prevent any backlash or drama. Please think before you post.
