  1. I strongly disagree, and think that teenagers with a reasonable degree of intelligence need to be prosecuted as adults in some cases. Despite US law saying 18 years old is a "legal" adult, some people are fully mentally and physically developed by that age. It should be a case by case basis.
  2. New England snow can be very wet and heavy.
  3. I wouldn't know all the model numbers, but I definitely know the sound. That is dead on accurate.
  4. You'd run out of paper writing tickets. lol
  5. It's hard to speak to people of our age group (I'm 23) around here intelligently about the role of a police officer in society because most people don't understand it. In fact I doubt a lot of them want to hear it. You raised a very good point about taking a life earlier, Bailey. On my first ride along the F.T.O. I rode with asked me a very similar question. "Are you prepared to have somebody die in your arms?" He told me that he had responded to a recent car accident (which indeed was in the paper about a week before I went on the ride along) on a commonly used highway in New Hampshire, Route 101. An SUV with a sleeping male driver crossed over the median and plowed head-on into a woman going to work on the other side of the highway. He was the first on scene, but could do nothing because she was trapped in the twisted metal and he could not pull her out. He had to hold her bloody hand and watch her die while he waited for the ambulance. Needless to say, it came too late. There was nothing he could do. He said that those are things that you'd have to deal with frequently, and that it can be a lot of mental stress. You need to prepare yourself for that.
  6. Well, my dad can beat up your dad.
  7. However the mod needs a base to operate on, which is GTA IV. And G17 uses intellectual property from Rockstar Games, even in the name of the mod. Look I'm not saying that if you word it nicely on paper that it's technically impossible, but I guarantee that Rockstar will find a way to take you to court and they'll win.
  8. Commanding with both fear and respect.
  9. I highly doubt Rockstar would take the same stance as you on that subject. It's not worth the court battles, Jay. lol Although I'm sure you knew that already.
  10. MODERATOR NOTICE Use the multiplayer thread please. We're going to start getting way too many of these quickly. Nothing to see here! This topic has been closed by G17 Media staff. If you feel that this topic has been closed in error, please report this post.
  11. You can also use your takedowns (spot light) while your normal overheads are still running. That's a huge realism advantage to me, but I kind of "deal with it" and turn on my brights to simulate the effect of a spotlight. In any case, I find that V5 ELS "cooperates" with AI police a bit better, and crashes less.
  12. Knock him over by targeting him and sprinting into him or "gently tap him" with your cruiser.
  13. I think we need to stop talking about things not related to the topic of the thread.
  14. It's real. Note the snow collecting on the tires, so it wasn't captured in a split second.
  15. You still need the post your error logs and what-not, and the mods are more than likely the problem. If the prisoner transport function works on a vanilla copy of GTA IV, then it's the mods. That's the best way to test it.
  16. Stop multi-posting. Edit your topic. Furthermore Wikipedia is a site that is heavily monitored every day for false content and will request cited sources if necessary. But CTD means crash to desktop and all of the symptoms explained in that earlier post are correct. You'll have myself and several other current or former software developers tell you the same thing.
  17. MODERATOR NOTICE Right you are. Moved
  18. Agreed, but there are plenty of little realism issues like that the dev team is aware of. G17 Media simply has to try and balance out the load of glitches, realism and new feature implementation in each patch. They are listening though, I guarantee you that.
  19. Even if an actual development studio wanted to steal LCPD:FR's concept and turn it into an actual game, it wouldn't have a large enough audience to do well. Let's be realistic here. I think many of us have logged way more hours playing the same missions in LCPD:FR than we have playing an entire story complete with a script and voice narrative. And it terms of how people behave: It's more fun for the common man to commit crimes than it is to stop them from happening. GTA gives you the ability to disregard the law and get away with it with no consequences, where in real life you can't. That's the "freedom" and entertainment people seek, and that's why Rockstar Games makes millions off of it. Despite the size of our community, we are a minority.
  20. It's not up to him to do that. LCPD:FR uses copyrighted content from Rockstar games as resources. As such, he is only able to give it out for free. The GTA IV content it uses does not belong to him or anyone else but Rockstar North.
  21. Hopefully that should fix it. Re-uploaded it manually to a new source.
  22. I don't think any police officer makes enough.
  23. It depends on where you're dispatched, but yeah some of them have a rough life. Think of them as street soldier. Instead of working in Afghanistan or Iraq, they're working the local streets looking for the same kind of people.
  24. I've met an NYPD officer, he was a nice guy. He recommended I go to a smaller department though as it can be overwhelming for newbies to go straight into NYPD at first.
