Need For Speed: Rivals
I've owned every Need For Speed game since Need For Speed 2. If you haven't played Hot Pursuit by Critereon, you're missing out. That's the last "real" Need For Speed game.

Don't record to the same HDD, it slows down performance tremendously. You may also have to lower details for recording, or record at half screen size. MrMpunit if you look on the grand scheme of things, $300 isn't really pricey, but I guess it depends on your own definition of "budget".

Several police officers from various departments have given me the advice of being persistent. Call 'em up, bug them, ask about hiring, etc.

Has Your Department Faded Out The Crown Vic?
The departments near me are relatively small. Nearly all the active duty cars, even for highway patrol are the new "Interceptor" SUV's and sedans. There are some CVPI's peppered in, but I expect those to be gone within the next year or two. The crown vic with the plate reader has had the plate reader ripped off and put onto one of the new Interceptors. Plate reader (for those who are unfamiliar with it): It costs the department I'm taking courses with $21,000 so I don't blame them, I suppose.

Do You Still Want To Be A Cop?
Divorce rate is high, but I dunno about 85%. 2nd one I'd agree with, 3rd one is most likely bogus, especially if the "main cause" is supposed to be due to adrenaline not being given at older ages. I don't think that's the main thing that thins the herd. I agree with the 4th, the job isn't for everyone. Anyone, short answer to the thread title: Yes.

Oh jesus... what did he do that for? He seemed relatively happy on screen the other year.

Macs are generally extremely well built, and many of today's standard Macbook models and even yesteryear's models of Macbook Air's have SSD's. Many components inside are not only soldered in place, but also glued, which help holds things together, along with anywhere between 50-100 screws in some cases. HP and Toshiba both had wide use anti-shock technologies in their laptops, but in my opinion their sensors tripped too quickly/easily shutting the PC down or crashing applications at inconvenient times. Those PCs had their own ideas of what a violent action or a drop is. So now a lot of them don't come with that feature.

In b4 benchmark war. As a heads up dude, the reason the FX you like beats the 2600 in that lineup is because it's a synthetic benchmark testing every applicable use of a CPU, one of which is 3D rendering. The AMD CPU's are no longer just processors, they are called APU's, Accelerated Processing Units, because they have a very small GPU on the CPU die. AMD has made significant progress with graphics SoC's, but it does no good for mainstream gaming, anyway. So while the results in 3DMark may look impressive, in real world applications, Intel still wins. Regarding overclocking, AMD's can overclock higher, but to no real avail. If you own a CPU that can overclock to over 4.0GHZ, chances are you don't need to anyway. I dunno where you get the $1000 figure from. That's Intel's most expensive six core CPU, but even my 3770K which is only an unlocked quad core that runs at 3.4GHZ stock beats out the highest end AMD CPU's in games. And it only cost me $350 when I bought it. Chances are it's under $300 now since the 4000 series is out. Anyway, AMD makes some good CPUs, and have good pricing, but they play second fiddle to Intel and will continue to do so until a new architecture comes out. I don't find it too challenging to find an Intel CPU that's a better performance/value than a comparable AMD chip if you're a smart shopper. All you need are some benchmarks and website reviews, and a few shopping websites to compare pricing from.

FYI: No it won't. Especially not that CPU in the link you dropped off earlier. I'm not taking any "sides", but AMD's don't wreck any modern Intel Core i7's of comparable clock speed. I chose a quad core Intel vs an 8 core AMD on purpose. Here's benchmark proof if you like: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/366/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_Intel_Core_i7_i7-2600.html The Intel Core i7 2600 is slightly better than then AMD FX-8350, but realistically it's a dead heat. A slight OC would push the 2600 up even further. 8 core CPU's still don't matter as much as people think right now. What I find funny about that benchmark is that the AMD chip is taking up way more power than the Intel one. AMD usually has been low power consumption advocates for years now.

SpeedFan is a nice app for temps too. It's likely an overheating issue, especially if you're using a stock cooler in a case with bad airflow.

Simple pot hole bumps make hard drives skip, and violent driving is common in police cruisers, even if the patrolman isn't in a pursuit. My body felt like it nearly went out of the windshield during my first ride along when the FTO jammed on his brakes and flipped a u-turn to go catch up to someone to pull them over. And they don't switch to solid states because Windows XP and Windows Vista don't work properly on them, and because they cost too much.

The PCs in the cruisers are on at all time regardless of whether they're in use or not, which means that the hard drive is constantly active and therefore susceptible to damage from driving forces.

Battlefield 4 Review
Nah, I disagree. If nothing else, it's at least good to learn the game engine mechanics. Makes you a lot more effective in multiplayer early on. That being said, one exception to that rule was the 'Medal of Honor' reboot. I have no idea why, but they used the Unreal Engine to design the single player game with, and the Frostbite Engine to design the multiplayer with, since they outsourced it to DICE. That didn't end up well. But I do like a good story and some single player action that temporarily deviates me from raging over people who hack, have terrible ping differences or play cheap. But the multiplayer of modern day shooters is most definitely what I look forward to most.

I wonder where you got this idea from... lol Good job. I'd recommend playing through the whole game before reviewing it however, or at least play through a large portion of it.

+1 to that. They also provide bulk discounts. Why do you think so many schools use Dell computers? It's certainly not because they're the best PC company in history and they're super-duper reliable.

What Do You Think?...
People have an inherent disliking for people telling them what to do. Police don't pull you over to say hello and see how you're day is going. They stop you for breaking a law, regardless of how your day's going, if you're late for something, in a bad mood, don't have money to pay for a ticket or time to go to court, etc. Cops are also humans, just like the people they stop. There are bad humans, and there are good ones. Some bad humans happen to be police officers, and people are going to take that bad experience they get and apply that to all people who wear the uniform. Think of it this way: If I visit my favorite electronics store, and the people there give me a terrible experience, that may mean that I'll refuse to shop at ANY location with that brand, not just the one store. And I'll tell all of my friends and family about my horrible experience too. The same thing will happen to civil servants, and it's not easy to be polite and forgiving all the time. Anyway this reply of mine is starting to get long winded, and I think you get my point by now. FYI: c13, not wearing a seat belt can easily harm more than just the individual not wearing it. If the person without a belt gets knocked unconscious they will lose all control of the vehicle, then they could slam into oncoming traffic and kill another driver, or maybe hit a telephone poll and kill the passenger due to the impact. Or they can also be ejected from the car completely, again putting others in dangers for the same or similar reasons. Maybe your ejection from the vehicle will cause it to spin and flip, creating a vehicle fire. Now you're putting emergency workers lives at risk to put out the fire you caused and/or pull anybody else in the vehicle out in time before they suffocate or burn to death. There are very, very few reasons I can think of to not wear your seat belt. The only good one that comes to mind is if you have a serious injury of your arm/shoulder and cannot move the belt across yourself due to the potential of causing further injury. But even then, that would only apply to a passenger in the car, as someone with that kind of injury shouldn't be driving in the first place. Again, same as above. Long winded reply, shouldn't need to explain any further.

Laptop Shuts Down Randomly When Playing Gta Iv.
For the love of god, don't do that! You're putting a source of open-air static electricity next to the side of a computer. I don't get why people think it's okay to use hair dryers or a vacuum to clean their computers. You're risking permanently damaging or even bricking your hardware by doing that. Suck it up until the next day when you can go out and buy a can of compressed air from a local store.

A military grade Panasonic Toughbook costs between $2,000-$3,000. A small department isn't going to get those sort of things replaced often, if they even get them in the first place. If you are a police chief and you are able to go before a town committee and successfully explain why you need a set of $3,000 laptops to run license plates, hats off to you. The department I'm in a citizens academy for has a small fleet of cars, and one (ONLY one) of them has a license plate scanner, a device that checks plates, vins, registrations and license statuses automatically. It costs $21,000. I'd also wager that his Core i5 is faster than the "fancy tough laptops", as the Panasonic Tougbooks won't usually be running lightning speed hardware because it would generate a lot of internal heat that would make the product less durable. So most laptops you see in police cars are going to be very old and very slow. If I had the software, I could probably run license checks faster on my smart phone.

Is The Hp Pavilion 17-E050Us Good For Gta Iv?
Not really, unless you want to run it on low. You should be worried about things beyond GTA IV now, anyway. There's a 5th one coming out that's going to be even harder to run.

I'm In A Pickle...
I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you, pretty badly on that one. Age restriction on responsibility doesn't and shouldn't exist because everyone is raised differently and thinks differently. At 12 I came home from school every day, immediately went to go find my dog when I got inside the house, brought out the big bag of dog kibble, made her some mixture from hot water and canned dog food to go along with it, refreshed her water bowl, took her out to go to the bathroom and gave her a little exercise before I did anything else, even my homework. It's about how the kid is raised and how/if they are held responsible for their actions. Slimory, she is not ready for a pet because she's not being held accountable for her mistakes, and thereby she's going to think it's okay to continue making them regardless of what repercussions this may have later on such as the dog growing up to be mean, killing the dog, the veterinarians giving you and your parents the eye, etc. The abuse of the puppy needs to stop immediately, and the dog either needs to be given away to someone more responsible, or your sister better get her shit together, and straighten up and fly right, quick. A 12 year old isn't a toddler. She's going to become a teenager, and can now think for herself. Your parents need to hold her responsible if you can't, and you need to tell them the full truth about these things, or you're just as much to blame as she is.
