  1. The game crashes upon boot. It won't make it past the Rockstar logos. I ran the diagnostic tool a couple times now. The first time it told me I didn't have the script hook files installed. I moved them manually to see if that would fix it. That message went away, but now it says I don't have EFLC at all. What is going on exactly? I've got two crash errors, as follows: 1.) That's not true at all. Roadblocks are meant to be a deterrent, either intimidating the suspect or forcing them to turn around. I have seen criminals ram road blocks before (as they likely will in the game because of stupid AI following a set path) but it's very rare. Tools used during a pursuit will depend on the department, what their policies are and what the on duty watch commander thinks the best course of action is. So never say never. And remember nothing is ever "needed". This is a suggestion forum. There are things we'd "like" to have. Personally, I'd like to see just about everything from Need For Speed Hot Pursuit moved over to here. Roadblocks and spike strips or stop sticks included. Just no EMP charges. :P
  3. I'm just now downloading the expansions. I've had LCPD:FR for a while now. My questions are basically: Will I have to install LCPD:FR again to the new directories? and Will I have to re-install the ELS mod, the traffic mod the ELS fix mod and the cars to the new directories too? Thanks in advance. *EDIT* I'll also mention that the original GTA IV is a physical disc copy, and the EFLC expansions are downloaded from STEAM, meaning they'll probably have a different directory.
  4. The errors all appear to be approximately the same. Sorry about the late response, the forums have literally been down for these 6 days for me.
  5. Thanks for looking into it. Looking forward to your response.
  6. Thanks again for your reply. That's exactly the tool I was thinking of. Just couldn't remember the name. At any rate, I did manage to find this for you (Click the image a second time after visiting the link to make it even larger): It crashed again just a few minutes ago after 2 or 3 shooting calls (where a group of people ambush you), and about 5 traffic stops, this time on the second island. I did notice that the AI police cars seem to use their light bars now, but this may be a fluke, as before it was on occasion. On the 4th shooting call, yet agiain, just as the AI turned to enemies, the game froze and then crashed. Exact same error, this time it read "Available RAM: -2139828224", an even higher negative number than before. My RAM usage was at 3.99 GB. Could it be that maybe GTA IV only allows for a maximum of 4GB taken up? Despite the fact that I have 6GB? As you can probably see for yourself, the error mentions "clr.dll" which apparently has to do with the .NET framework, conveniently enough. This is according to a quick Google search I conducted, pictured here (Click the image a second time after visiting the link to make it even larger): So we may be onto something. The first link is to a forum thread on the MSDN Microsoft official website, where the first reply mentions a "fix" for that DLL file. However, I'd rather make sure we get a clear picture of what's going on before I start swapping out DLL files. Those are pretty serious things to be tinkering with. If there's anything further I can do to help you out, let me know. When I have the day off, I leave this window open while I play, so every time I crash or take a break, I check back. *EDIT* Had the same error again. Didn't play very much this time, paused it to catch part of a TV show.
  7. The taxi & police car bug sometimes fixes itself after you drive around to another location, and sometimes (rarely) if you turn the camera behind you, the cars are miraculously replaced by something else. Both LCPD:FR and ELS scripts have random errors once in a while (as told to me via the message in the top corner of my screen), but it's fairly infrequent. Maybe I just have bad luck? I do have the original disc version, not the STEAM one. I got GTA IV when it came out. I'll keep looking for other info. Do you know of any logging location I can look at where it might give more specifics? As a good example I downloaded a blue screen error "reader" software that gives me specifics of what happened, where and when. It looks like this: I know Windows has a couple of these types of programs built in to view logs similar to that. I just got that one because it's convenient, and blue screens are almost always a mystery unless you know how to develop and troubleshoot OS Kernels yourself. I'm a pretty savvy power user, but I'm not a tech genius. I'll keep playing your mod and I'll see what happens. If you need any screenshots of my game folders or what-not, let me know. *EDIT* Crashed just a few seconds ago. Got the exact same error message except this time it said "Available RAM: -1953464320", whereas before, it was more like -17blahblahblahsomething. I still think it's a memory leak. This time it happened as I was responding to a shooting call. It was precisely as the normal pedestrians were changing to hostiles with guns. Similar crashes happen right as normal cars sitting in the road switch to fleeing armed robbery suspect cars. There's something about those loads that ruin it. I think it's a memory leak. Answer too many calls and the memory doesn't dump itself regularly, so it chokes. I was using approximately 4GB (I have 6GB) as I closed the game using the dialogue box.
  8. I have this exact issue. In very few scenarios, I may see an AI car with working lights. Generally they are shut off whenever, except for a constant glow that comes out of one tiny light bubble on the entire light bar. FRAPS doesn't seem to want to take screen shots for me when I hit F10. The cars are all ELS enabled. Mine is a 2012 Ford Taurus "Interceptor" concept, a 2010 Crown Victoria SFPD model, and a 2010 Chevy Tahoe K9 unit. They always work great for me (except once in a while my hazard flashers will randomly come on, it's probably something I press, no idea what though). AI cars work on a rare occasion but almost never.
  9. Thank you very much for your response, I'm happy to see a dev deeply concerned with tightening up the screws. Unfortunately, the crashes only give me the generic Windows 7 dialogue of "This program has stopped working, click here to close" and whatnot. I know there are error logs within Windows 7 for crashes, although I'm not positive if it would give you the information you need. As stated in my first support thread, I'm a novice modder for GTA IV. It wasn't as straight forward for me as GTA III was (different engine, different install & file structure). If you can think of a function within Windows that give you an error report that would help you, please let me know and I'd be happy to copy that down for you. I spend lots of time on the mod solo despite the crashes (it's addictive), but having a seamless experience would be that much better. I'll say that although sometimes the crashes can be random, it is usually caused while trying to get other officers involved, either via car, or helicopter. Something about the loading of that extra help that makes the game freeze, then go to a black screen and eventually give me that dialogue. *EDIT* On a side note, since I have your attention, although I have 'Traffic Control', taxis sometimes till congregate in a big bunch, which I hear can be common. But even stranger, I've actually seen mobs of cop cars group together too. Usually if I drive around for a couple of minutes I'll eventually see the cars return to normal. Kind of funny looking, to be honest. lol *UPDATE* Alright, I had another crash a minute ago, this time I decided to see if there was any sort of description. There was a small drop down menu labeled "details" which I decided to click on. I have copied all the information from it and will paste it here: Description: Critical runtime problem Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPLICATION CRASH System RAM: -1 Available RAM: -1717215232 Number of CPUs: 4 Video Card Manufacturer: NVIDIA Video Card Description: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 Video Card Driver Version: 8.17.0012.6658 OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Read our privacy statement online: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline: C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt The negative values for RAM suggest to me there may possibly be a memory leak. I have 6GB of system ram which should be more than enough for any sort of game today. The crash happened as I was responding to a call out for Armed Robbers Fleeing. The suspect car was just about to drive forward when everything stopped, and the crash occurred.
  10. I think if we put in some effort to either ask the community, or seek out volunteers from elsewhere, it could be done. But I think the domestic violence scenario I posed would work with current voices built into the game. Just get some generic fighting shouts going and someone beating somebody else up when you arrive on scene. Call it B.D.V. or a fight call.
  11. I think we could find voulenteers, and I'd be happy to help although I don't exactly have a studio mic, I just have a head set. But before we get that deep into it, I was thinking more along the lines of me pulling in front of a house, and some guy is beating up a girl, as an example. She's just using some of the generic "help" or distress yells. Tase the guy and arrest him. Or have him run or something. I'd say start out like that and we can work our way up.
  12. Correct, but they aren't the same as a certified EMT. That's why they call EMS in after they taze someone. They aren't allowed to remove the barbs if they pierce the skin. Liability issue. A suspects lawyer could claim some form of mistreatment and say "Oh well they're not medical professionals, they're law enforcement officers. So the state owes my client 500 zillion dollars for pain & suffering." Otherwise the police would be sort of a super department. Fire, medical & law. lol
  13. I'm seeing the crashes becoming a bit more spaced out, like probably every half hour or maybe 45 minutes. Still annoying, but it's more functional than it was before. I wish these ELS developers would hang out on these forums and read this so we could get some feedback, or more importantly a fix, since custom cars and lights are commonplace. So far I have only replaced three base vehicles, with a 2012 Police Interceptor (based off of a Taurus SHO), a 2011 Crown Vic, and a Chevy Tahoe all with ELS functionality.
  14. This was briefly mentioned in a different forum about a year ago, but was kind of buried in it's own little post, so I thought I'd bring it back up. I would enjoy responding to domestic violence, battery, or fight calls. This is one of the most common type of calls in the real world, and I think most people here loathe guys who beat their wife, and hate hearing loud arguments. Also maybe something like noise complaints might be a simple, but realistic feature. A lot of people may not like that one, but it would give more variety. Perhaps you could arrest someone for disorderly conduct if they keep swearing at you. Or maybe include a feature for public intoxication or even DUI drivers trying to leave a bar in their car and get on the road. Ambitious thoughts, yes, but I think these would all be a blast.
  15. Have we considered an injured person callout, actually? Police often get to a scene before medics do if they're in the area. A girl I knew tried to commit suicide, and the first person on scene was a state trooper who managed to revive her. Every officer does get a bit of medical of training. Not necessarily making them an EMT, but better than an average person.
  16. On that note, I think I'd like to see a feature where there's a certain percentage that when pulled over, some drivers will randomly get out. and you can use a "Driver stay in your car!" shout, which will either work or not work. A lot of people think it's good to get out of their car to talk to the police (wrong, it's a good way to get a gun pulled on you). Either because they're stupid, or because they're trying to prevent you from finding drugs or weapons in the car. For that matter, actually, lol... I think a dialogue option for finding drugs or weapons in the car (random chance) would be nice. Then you may use the "step out" option. Have we also considered felony stops? As in: You receive a callout on a stolen vehicle, and once you track it down, the driver pulls over and you get backup. All of the cops open their doors and take cover, and you can order the perp to walk backwards toward your vehicle with his hands up, then you get to go arrest him and put him in the back of a car. This could also be used during pursuits if a suspect realizes that the pursuit is getting too dangerous, and he or she simply gives up. For that matter, maybe a prompt or a key stroke to break off a pursuit yourself would be good. The player making the decision, of course. I don't think it would be as fun as a chase, but it would be realistic.

I think rather than use the "you could do this instead" answers, we should consider these as maybe not pressing, but nice small enhancements to what's already there. I like them. I think fixing glitches and crashes and strengthening the mechanics are more important, yes, but I like threads and suggestions like these. I rode with an F.T.O. on my local police department last summer, and he had a tactical assault rifle up on the ceiling, of all places. (A lot of cop cars have it in their trunk.) I noticed it and asked him about it, and he simply said: "We're starting to use these instead because they're more accurate than a shotgun." Kind of scary they need that kind of accuracy, but it's hard to argue with simple logic. *EDIT* Also, where do you get the earlier mentioned "Bxbugs´s ASP Baton"? I always hear these recommendations, but nobody includes links to them and Google yields nothing.
  18. Variety is the spice of life. :teehee:
  19. I completed a year of programming in college before I decided it wasn't for me, so I understand that building a skeleton comes first. That skeleton however eventually has to have some muscle, skin and hair once it's built. Opening a basic, blank window in Windows XP takes around 5,000 lines of code to render it completely, so I can appreciate the value of the hard work that goes into computer software. That's why I always buy my games. I don't mind at all waiting for features. But I think what we were talking about above is playing off of what already exists in the game/mod. Just simply enhancing it. I think not having any voice overs (as in taking away the current ones) would be a disaster. Slightly flawed as they may be, anybody can hit a bunch of buttons all day. I think we would all like it if they did something more than skip on to the next menu, unless this was a game like Dragon Age of Mass Effect. :P *EDIT* Also, I loved Ray Liotta's voice in GTA: Vice City. I think it went well with the character.
  20. Yeah it was disabled before. I could have sworn I read somewhere LCPD:FR wouldn't work with Windows Live. Oh well, that's fine. I'm curious as to how it would work with multiplayer in future patches, that being said.
  21. Re-voice the entire character. The ones in the game don't match up 100% as it is. Sometimes I hear a mix of country-cop with New York cop. Or Mexican cop with New York cop, as a couple of examples. I'd suggest a pool of maybe a half dozen new voice packs (and yes, still keep the existing ones), or something along those lines.
  22. I'm so happy that you suggested both of those and I sincerely hope they make their way into future patches.
  23. Actually pepper spray is a very common law enforcement tool in the states. For police academy training you are required to get sprayed once in the eyes and arrest another recruit while nearly blind. This is because when you pepper spray someone at close range, you're going to get a little blow back in your own eyes. And in my opinion, I think this would be a GREAT way to make people with guns in their hands drop them, and therefore be arrestable. Tazers don't seem to make them drop their weapons. Im sure you could fix that, but I think pepper spray would be fun to use. Spray them in the face, and then you can have the suspects do that bending over and slowly walking away animation after they get severely damaged by something, to simulate the pain it causes.
  24. My thoughts exactly. I don't think volunteers would be hard to find, especially with the community enthusiasm about this mod. They would just have to be adults, and put on a fairly convincing performance into a quality mic. I remember making my own custom radio station in GTA III. All of them were basically just a really huge .MP3 on a loop (like some real radio stations for that matter). It was easy to open up a program like Cool Edit Pro (now called Adobe Audition), do some recording on a halfway decent mic and be the DJ after selecting some music. I even had some stock music, instrumentals of popular songs and some dumb ideas for fake commercials like on the in-game radio stations. It was fun "living the dream", so to speak.
  25. Because I can't save when I'm offline. *EDIT* Apparently the mod DOES work with Windows Live? I though this mod (and others) didn't support it.
