  1. Approx 3.2GB is actually the limit. The operating system won't read the full 4GB, some applications may if they're programmed for it. You also need to be more specific about what kind of processor and graphics card you have. nVidia is just a brand.
  2. That CPU is a bit underwhelming as new CPUs will be pushing 4.0ghz, I wouldn't want to be left below 3.2 at all. Six cores don't factor into video games right now. Also a 6770 or 550Ti would allow for settings on medium. I have a much better card (GTX 570) and a faster processor and I can only play on mostly all high details, not with everything maxed.
  3. 32-bit operating systems based on the Windows platform can support a theoretical maximum of around 3.2GB of RAM, conveniently fitting the 32-bit title (Get it? 3.2 - 32 bit.). Sometimes it may be a little over or a little less than 3.2 GB, but that is the mathematical limit within today's 32-bit Windows operating systems. The reason for the switch to 64-bit is to fit twice as much address space in memory, making things more efficient, and it will also allow for the theoretical support of up to 16 Exabytes of RAM.
  4. I don't consider 30fps playable. That's why I don't crank everything.
  5. You just answered your own question.
  6. There's no graphics card in that second configuration you posted. And don't make a second thread for this. Pick one or the other.
  7. Do you have a video card of any kind?
  8. To touch on a system config I read about earlier in this thread; A Core i5 is a pretty good gaming processor on a budget, but it's still not an i7, and the 9800GTX is a very old card. It's a slightly better version of the 8800GTX which was the first video card ever able to run DX10. I myself have a Phenom II X4 955 BE and a GTX 570 (third most powerful single GPU card you can get, now that the 7970 is out) and maximizing it is still not an option, especially for steady frame rates. In any case, GTA IV is a crappy console port that had very little effort put into it for optimization. One more generation of hardware should be enough to finally subdue it with a reasonable budget, but after all these years, it still strikes me as ridiculous. Hopefully the PC version of GTA V won't be as bad.
  9. Post your system specifications please. If you don't know them, go to Start -> Run -> 'dxdiag.exe'. Save the file and post it here.
  10. You could also use the in-game health cheat code to restore your car, or simply "borrow" another patrol car if you manage to not completely destroy it after the pursuit.
  11. "Random access memory (RAM) is a form of computer data storage. Today, it takes the form of integrated circuits that allow stored data to be accessed in any order with a worst case performance of constant time" - Wikipedia RAM is used to temporarily store and manage information of currently running programs. Windows eats up a bit of it and any games or other applications gobble up the rest. 2.74GB is fairly low by todays standards, especially for video games. And I have no idea what kind of graphics card (if any) or processor you have. But my instincts tell me that it's your computers hardware causing problems, basically unable to run the game stably. But then again I don't know your system stats. Posting them would be helpful.
  12. www.gtainside.com www.gtapolicemods.com They're hard to miss.
  13. I find that an increasing number of departments are using all blue to differentiate themselves from other emergency vehicles, but not all department are embracing it. Police lights where I used to live were all blue, and I liked the look of them that way. So thats why my overheads on my cars are all blue.
  14. Dedicated graphics card with 1GB of RAM, reasonably good model. You can use this site as a reference guide. They class laptop graphics card by tiers of how good they are, and have game benchmarks for each card. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-560M.48313.0.html Good luck. You'll be sinking $800 for an okay laptop for games (low-medium details), about $1200+ for a good one. And they'll still be obsolete in 3 years. A desktop is always a better decision if you don't need the mobility of a laptop.
  15. It won't pass. And if it does, it will get repealed fast. I'm not worried about it.
  16. Yes, these are the high poly models. They are not for the weak (video cards).
  17. You can use the GTA IV cheat codes to change yours, but not your partners. And you aren't supposed to take more than one partner, the game is meant to be a police patrolman mod, not a SWAT team mod, although that would actually be an interesting mod now that I think about it.
  18. Cool story, bro. On a more serious note, a lot of the more intense chases last a short while. Most of my YouTube videos were short as a result of that. Still entertaining though.
  19. Well technically it is the case visually, but it stresses out the GTA IV game engine. And I know you're all going to argue with me about textures and bump mapping and shadowing and all of that crap. lol I know. But polygon count increases with the newer games. Just people are shoving models that are basically direct rips from other games into a game engine made for lower poly count models.
  20. You still need to follow the guides and give us the information it asks of you in them in order to help you. lol Give us your system specs, run the diagnostic tool, update your drivers and patches, etc, etc.
  21. The mugging call issue is (hopefully) something the devs are very aware of by now. It's non-functional no matter where you drive when I use it myself, so for now I'm ignoring it until the final release is ready. Drug deal callouts are buggy but they work. Pursuit calls are less frequent, but it's to make sure that you don't get into a police chase every 5 seconds like in version .91
  22. Probably because your computer has inadequate hardware to run the game. Post your system specs and read the stickies first please.
  23. We have a support forum, sir. Use that please.
