  1. Thanks again for all the advice. I'm getting a lot of support from my fellow police cadets so that helps. When I'm at the academy, my mind is occupied. But as soon as I arrive home, the silence and the fact that she isn't there to greet me anymore just kills me every time.
  2. Thank you. Sounds like you were in the exact same situation I am in now. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.
  3. Thanks for all the support, guys. The thing about dogs is, they love you more than anything and will always stay by your side. As Slimory said, having a loving dog is indeed equal to having a child. For now, I'm a bit afraid of getting a new dog as I don't want the same grief again. I'll try and occupy my mind. Thanks again, all of you.
  4. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. For now, I'll try and cope with the loss. Hopefully, I'll get used to the silence and the empty chair.
  5. Hello to you all, Unfortunately, my 11 year old dog passed away in peace today. It was the nicest labrador you could ever wish for. I'm having a very rough time dealing with the loss since she was a big part of our family. When I got back from work, she would rush into my arms. She really was one of my best friends. Anyhow, my question is, do any of you guys have any experiences or tips to share on how to cope with this loss? Should I immediately look for another dog or try to get over her first and cherish the memories? The silence in the house just kills me but I don't want to make it look like I quickly replaced her. RIP girl, I love you. Always.
  6. I was indeed referring to volunteers. Thank you for clearing that up. Unfortunately, many volunteers in my country abuse their emergency lighting equipment in order to neglect speed limits when not on an emergency call. It remains a sensitive issue to allow volunteers to break traffic rules without any form of training. I'm currently two months in academy training and I can safely say that emergency driving is far more demanding than I expected.
  7. I don't know the situation in the US but in my country, volunteers are obliged to follow the traffic rules. This means they have to stop at a red light and have to respect the speed limits, even when using emergency lighting. So strictly speaking, the officer has every right to give them a ticket. Of course, he should have shown his human side by just giving them a warning since they were en route to a medical emergency. Especially since he himself did not observe the traffic violation as heard in the video.
  8. I'm currently in academy training and I can safely say it's the best choice I ever made. I've been dreaming about joining the police since I was 12 years old. To be able to achieve your dream is just the greatest feeling in the world. The only advice I can give you guys is to give it your best shot. If you want something, just go for it! Every day I put on my uniform, I feel proud to wear it. Being a police officer definitely isn't the most rewarding job but the support you get from your colleagues is fantastic. I've already made friends for life and I'm only one month in training.
  9. 1. Drag myself out of bed 2. Breakfast and shower 3. Put my police uniform on 4. Wait for my colleague to arrive 5. Get in my/his car and drive to the academy 6. Survive the day in the academy
  10. Police officer in academy training. Hopefully, one year from now, I'll be able to take my oath of service at graduation.
  11. I'm loving it so far. The world is just huge, the story missions are great fun and the shooting mechanics are a major improvement. Police AI is also much better. In pursuits, they try to box you in instead of just ramming their cars into yours. Finally, I love the ambient city noises and the random emergency responses throughout the city. It really gives you that feeling of a living city. The driving does indeed take some time to get used to though. Also, I may be nitpicking here but does anyone else find that the engine noises are very quiet?
  12. Too right. Flooring it through a four way stop intersection with absolutely no regard for the safety of the public is anything but responsible emergency driving. Like someone said in the comments section, if the person filming hadn't warned the guy on the bike trying to cross the intersection, a potential fatal accident could have ensued. Nice find though.
  13. Congratulations! I'm happy to announce that, after almost a year, I passed the entire (lengthy) selection process and finally get to realise my dream of becoming a police officer as well. If all goes well, I'll be starting my police academy training on October 1st. I'm ready for an exciting new chapter in my life!
  14. Is it me or does Central Los Santos look rather small on that "leaked" map? Although I am impressed by the size of the countryside, I expected the city district to be much larger. I could be misinterpreting the scale though.
  15. Superb! The waiting is just unbearable...
  16. Although I am no modder myself, I have been an active member of this community since early 2011. I have to say, it's a shame to see that modding has become a case of competition and ratings. This community has indeed become the victim of its own succes which has led to an enormous increase of members starting to create textures and models in the last few years. On one hand, Kevin is right when he says that this evolution has led to the downloads database being flooded with modifications of somewhat questionable quality. On the other hand though, one must also take into account that the staff on this forum cannot be expected to remove these mods just because they are of low quality. As to the harsh comments on some of these mods, this cannot be avoided since respect and common decency are often lacking in todays world unfortunately. It is only logical that the staff removes these pointless comments since nothing good can come of these type of remarks. In my humble opinion, modding should always remain a hobby, something the creator enjoys doing. Lately, it seems modding revolves more around the amount of downloads and the reputation that comes with it.
  17. I've never been so excited for a game. Without a doubt, this is going to be one of the highest selling games ever. I hope they can live up to the massive hype.
  18. Jesus, training exercises with live ammunition and real life humans. That's some elite training right there and will make you be on edge for sure. These guys seem to be facing death on a daily basis. Massive respect to them for doing what they do.
  19. Props to those officers for being so professional. American police seem to be so friendly and lenient. If that situation had taken place in Belgium, both the kid and the guy screaming "f*ck the police!" and making threats would more than likely have been taken into custody for slander and insulting/threatening a police officer. Freedom of speech only goes so far and in my opinion, doesn't justify insulting and threatening an officer for doing his job.
  20. UGH, It is not updating again.............Download my versions over at lcpdmods.com or
  21. Very nice models! There is a minor problem though. The left door disappears when viewing the car from a distance. Anyone else having this issue? It's a shame since I really want to use this model in my game.
  22. Such a feature is included in the "Police Oficer Extras Script" I believe: "[LES] Less Explosions Script This script adds a customizable delay between the car catching fire and exploding." Link: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>
  23. Unbelievable. Rockstar really outdid themselves this time...
